My neighbour has the beautiful land lotus tree in their garden. I too had but my cat Snowy killed it by scratching his nails on it's trunk. I am still longing to have one for the flowers and very attractive. They are white in the morning and becomes pink as the day proceeds. In India people of Bengal believe that it's the favourite of Goddess Durga and Goddess Lakshmi. My neighbour gave me two land lotus flowers today and I offered it to Goddess Durga and Goddess Lakshmi. Have you seen the land lotus? Does it grow in the West?

I have many of these plants. Perhaps you are speaking of " sthol poddo". When fresh they are white but as time passes they turn pinkish.

Yes, that's what I meant and they are the most sought after flowers during Durga puja and Lakshmi puja.

@aninditasen Azaleas are pink, white and a purplish color. They are a shrub plant and bloom in the spring.

How does the pink azalea look? This lotus actually blossoms as a white flower but becomes pink as the Sun rises and the day goes by.

I haven't seen this kinds of lotus here although we have some different types of lotus. It is very interesting to hear that it will turn into different colors as time goes by.
