The Nobel Prize is announced annually in early October. It is a Swedish literature prize given to an author from any country. It is based on an author's body of work but some individual works are sometimes seen as particularly noteworthy.
The Swedish Academy decides who will receive the prize and this was started in 1901 by Alfred Nobel, a Swedish industrialist. Nobel left the largest share of his fortune to a series of prizes in the categories of chemistry, physics, physiology(or medicine), literature, and peace.
Annie Emaux has won the award in literature for 2022. She writes mostly autobiographical work and has received this prize due to the "courage and clinical acuity: of her writing.
