All in all I would say that the first night out camping with the new camper went without a hitch. Well, unless you want to include the one on the back of the truck. Mostly we did not run into any hiccups, other than we forgot the bottled water, ketchup, mustard, onions and tomatoes—luckily St. Charles, Missouri is not in the boonies, so we were able to stop off at Aldi to get what we needed. On the way back we decided to stop in and walk around Cabela's a bit. That's always a fun store to take a look around in. The little camping grill worked great and we enjoyed our hamburgers and potato salad. Hooking up and unhooking is getting easier, and faster. And luckily the weather was perfect, so we were able to open all the windows and just enjoy the fresh air. It was a bit windy both going and returning—made for an interesting drive. Like I said, all in all I'd call this a successful outing and can't wait to be able to do it again soon.

@porwest I would call those "normal" screw-ups.

@DaddyEvil Luckily we were not in the boonies and could rectify the problem easily. lol

Aside from the fact that we forgot the water for Keurig since I don't want to drink coffee out of the fresh water tank. AND we forgot the condiments for the hamburgers...it went swell. lol

I wish we would have taken more, but we don't take a lot of pictures these days. It is what it is, I guess. But it was a fantastic time and definitely, for now, confirmation we want to be doing this.

It was a really good time. I am only disappointed we bought it just before the camping season ends and won't be able to really enjoy it until next year. Oh well. At least we have it and so it is a done deal there. I guess I can be patient.

@porwest I get the impression that patience is not your greatest virtue, lol. But glad y'all had a good experience and can look forward to lots more.

Nice to hear the first one is in the books without any major mishaps! Pretty soon you'll be a pro at this. We have a Bass Pro just a few minutes away from where I live, and I always love perusing the store. I can spend hours in there! I know Bass Pro and Cabela's merged a few years ago, and they are basically have similar stores, but I wish we had a Cabela's nearby. I like the Cabela's name much more than I do the Bass Pro name. To me, Bass Pro just seems a little too redneck, while Cabela's seems much more classy. Luckily, our Bass Pro sells a lot of Cabela's gear and clothing now.

@porwest I agree with you on the pricing. I was at Bass Pro last Friday looking at flannel shirts, and I was surprised not only at the prices of those shirts, but most of their products in general. It seems they are doing a pretty good job of keeping inflationary increases to a minimum.

I do find they are amazingly similar stores, even though these days they are essentially the same company. They are fun to walk through, and on our recent visit I was bit surprised their prices really weren't all that bad, considering.

@moffittjc Yeah. I was literally shocked. Especially considering it all mostly specialty branded stuff, and normally you pay a lot more for the name. Not so in this case.

@LindaOHio A few so far, yes. Mostly ones closer to home so we can do quick weekend jaunts. Eventually we will venture out father of course.

So, you are saying because this was an hour away it was not an actual trip? lol. Yes, I know what you mean. Lots to write about I am sure when these happen.

Sounds like a good time and I hope you're able to do it again. We all forget things when we travel. My husband and I've done our fair share.

We always find there are a few things we forget to take. For the endurance rides, I have a long list and tick off stuff as I start packing. The caravan isn't at the back door any more so it's important that we don't have to return to the house for stuff we've forgotten.

Yeah, this site is a bit of a tight one in that there isn't a lot of space between the slots—but it was fine.
