Truth and Lies

Have you ever lied? Do you do what I call 'social lying'? Where you say something you don't really feel to get through a social situation. Do you lie to family members to get them to leave you alone? Do you lie to co-workers to get through the day or because you don't want them to know the truth about your real life? Do you lie about life, family, personal issues, relationship standing, etc. just to get people to think you are okay or doing better than you really are? Are there people you don't interact with because they do a lot of lying? Do liars really bug you? They do me. I can usually tell when a person is lying too. If I know them and have been around them. Do I call them on it? Sometimes. I used to lie to my significant other because I didn't want to get hit if I told him my true feelings. I used to lie to my mother because she was in my business so much. Now I don't have them to contend with thank goodness. I figure that life is just too short and I won't lie to anyone for any reason. It just isn't something I want to do. I live by the Golden Rule. If I don't want to be lied to I sure won't be one to lie. It is such a waste of time. Do you lie?

No. Liars are my biggest pet peeve. I won't associate with them.

I feel the same way. I am curious as to why they feel the need to lie. Ya know?

I do my best not to lie. My sisters and other family know by now that I am not a fan of their chosen religion. We are separated by that because I choose to be honest. Being true to oneself and standing up for what we believe in is a truth, even if there is a cost.

I don't make a habit of it; but I have told an occasional lie to spare someone's feelings.

Yes, that one seems most common.

I do not. This is not to say I never stretch the truth or provide a white lie. But I am actually quite an honest person and I prefer to be that way, and find others who are not honest to be annoying.
