Bits and bobs from yesterday

I needed some new sheets and tried to order from a particular company online as I had their catalogue. However, all the queen-size ones I needed were sold out. We had doctor’s appointments later and, while filling in time waiting for some prescriptions to be filled, we went to a department store and picked up some sheets. They were a lot cheaper but not such a good quality. However, they might still outlast us. I also got two packs of Christmas cards and a card for a good friend who turns 75 on Monday. He is having a party at the clubhouse on Saturday and we’re looking forward to that. It’s my first of Christmas shopping. Photo of mine of the garland we had on our door last year.

I'm glad you haven't started decorating for Christmas yet! Seeing the wreath worried me!

I won't be starting for a while yet and we always keep it pretty simple. I'll need to find the inner part of the wreath before I can make it. It's somewhere in the garage but exactly where is the question. lol

@DaddyEvil I think that's the best sort but Vince wanted a 'real' one. He doesn't this year.

Many things are sold out both in stores and online as shortages increase worldwide. I hope you have a good time on Saturday. That's a lovely wreath.

When I bought some sheets, yesterday the shops were full of Christmas items. I'm looking forward to Saturday. Thanks.

@JudyEv I saw my first Christmas toy commercial on TV yesterday. It gets earlier and earlier each year.

We are going away on the 17th December for four days so we'd probably better do it before that. I'll start writing cards at the beginning of December.

@pitstop That's a good time. Once we see others with the decorations up, ours will probably go up too but not before December.

I haven’t done any Christmas shopping. I’m not looking forward to it this year. My Dining room is still torn apart so as it is right now I won’t be able to decorate. I don’t have much money to spend this year either and that makes me nervous. I like the photo that looks tidy and pretty. This is where you no longer live though correct?

@JudyEv yep once my kids are grown I doubt I will decorate much. It’s mostly fun for the kids to have things festive.

This is our new place. I won't be buying any new decorations. It's not really a big deal for me. Different if you've got kids.

Same to me here. This year I am very broke and planning not to do anything as far as the Christmas is concerned

That looks easy to do. Maybe I'll try to get crafty and make one for my house but I'll keep it indoors because no one visits me.

@rebelann It's surprising what you can do if you try to think out the circle.

I make it up each year. The core is a plastic tube. I've improved it a bit since this photo and made it more of a proper circle.

I thought you already put the garland of your door for the coming Christmas. I have so many bed sheets, I am planning to donate some.

@JudyEv I cut those no more very good to use to wash the car, or to clean the garden tools.

@LadyDuck Years ago, my mother would cut out the worn part up the middle of double sheets then hem the sides together to make a new single sheet. Old sheeting makes excellent cleaning rags.

I got rid of some when we moved but some are now a bit threadbare.

I guess home for you is a place to decompress for a few days after all your adventures I was looking on Amazon last night. I saw the robe I want to get for my dad for Christmas. It was very reasonably priced. I will probably order it before too long. I don't want it to get bogged down in the holiday package rush.

Christmas shopping is the pits if you leave it all to the last minute and then have to fight the crowds.

It's great you're already preparing for the Yuletide season. I still haven't bought a single gift, but I have to start now, so I will not be rushed during the holiday season. Enjoy your holidays in advance.

Thanks for the good wishes. We don't really have a lot to do at Christmas now we're older. Not so many to buy gifts for.

I thought online would be easy and they'd be delivered but then we had to go to this shopping centre anyway so that ended up convenient too.

Here the decorations and shopping pick up in December for those who celebrate Christmas. So, you are quite early for your Christmas shopping. But then I keep hearing from friends here that they start buying gifts months ahead of Christmas.

When I exchanged gifts with a lot of people, I used to buy gifts throughout the year but now we buy for very few so it's not so expensive.

@JudyEv Understandable. As we grow old and mature with age, very few stay meaningful and close to us. And they are special

That is a very nice garland, I stopped writing Christmas cards a long time ago, My good friends I send online Christmas cards to and I know some I should write to but I have gotten out of the habit and second the little post office near us closed and the big one is too far away for me to get there,

I was going to stop with the cards but some of my older friends aren't really computer savvy and I didn't want to lose touch altogether so I still write a few.

You have a pretty front walk. I find buying sheets to be a huge chore. I never know what I will end up with. I liked the last batch of sheets that I bought though they are super wrinkly.
