QR Codes Are Awful

A QR Code - taken by me

QR Codes Are Awful I really hate those stupid QR Codes they use as barcodes, bus and train timetables and on official forms, I-Phones and even as an alternative to concert tickets. I used to love keeping and collecting tickets for events I have attended. There are pubs that line the walls with them. The QR code looks like a scribble on a tiling panel, devoid of character and of zero aesthetic quality. I also lack the tech for downloading or reading them so I have to get them printed out to take them to events I can only access with them. They are horrible. Arthur Chappell

I am exactly in your same position. I do not have (and I do not want) a smartphone. I cannot read all those horrible QR Codes that are driving me crazy.

Totally agree with you on this one. I hate them myself and they are using them more and more.

If you have a smartphone, it's just an app you download, take a picture of the QR code and the app translates it for you.

@DaddyEvil I have one, but after reading this, I have no interest, is this what they use as scan and go?

I guess you don't have an Android smartphone, either? I'm not a fan of QR codes but while we have them in the US, they aren't that prevalent in my part of the US.

@arthurchappell An Android phone can also run the apps to translate the QR codes.

We hate them because we don't have smartphones. There are a lot of things that we are excluded from because we can't scan the QR codes.

QR CODE scan must be in the right position, sometimes if the writing is too small it will be difficult to scan. Even my father's vision is blurry and I have to help him do it if he really has to use the QR CODE.

Most phones, both Apple and Android have built-in QR code readers in them. All you need is a smart phone with a camera. It's not that hard, really. I find them easy to use, and a huge time saver.

I agree with you. Thank goodness my husband understands them, he will scan them when necessary.

They are not easy to work with that's for sure. With some your need a qr reader while others will work with ones camera and provide a link. I try not to save much so that's not a problem for me but I know the older generation will have a difficult time with using them. How are your Arthur? I don't remember when I looked you up last. I know it was last year sometime and maybe after August when I began taking a break from here.

@arthurchappell I was talking to a friend about them today and at one time you used to see them all over the Underground, but can't say I've seen one in a long while

Same here, I hate it too. But everything requires a barcode and that is something we have to deal with it. The government also trying to reduce print money. It is all in barcode.
