Monday morning... Sunday brunch.

Good morning from this side of the planet.
. It's sunny and bright outside.
. It's 9:15 AM here as I write this post. Done with the first session at work. Now I have a twenty minutes break before I start with the next session. And nothing better than mylotting in that break
.
It's a new week here and it started with all the enthusiasm of a new week. A lot to look forward to in this week at work
.
Weekend was relaxed and slow. And I feel totally rejuvenated.
. I didn't do much other than the bare needed ones.
Yesterday, we had yummy Sunday brunch with family. My nephew and niece too joined us
. So, I cooked for six people. And we had enough left for dinner later. So, that saved me from cooking last evening and I spent most of the evening in making lesson plans and few worksheets. So, I am all prepared for work this week
I made chicken chilli, baby corn Manchurian, veg garlic fried rice and salad of cucumber, all colours of bell pepper, lettuce and lemon juice. It was a treat
.
The picture is of my chicken chilli. My niece did the beautiful plating to click the picture for her assignment. She is a journalism and Mass media student. Her weekend assignment was food photography. She clicked many more pictures in the last two days of all other food in the house
. I often forget to click the picture of my dishes to post here.
It looked good and tasted delicious. Even I had a bite of chicken chilli. I tasted non veg after April. I am a vegetarian by choice.
It would have looked better if I added food colour. That's what they do in restaurants. But home cooking is more about healthy options and I avoid any artificial colours.
Have a good time in your mylot corner.
Catch you later.

When I'm cooking, I worry more about the food tasting good than I do about it looking good.
Sometimes, it's even healthy for me to eat it.
Your chicken chili looks interesting but not like chili here looks. (When I was younger, I cooked chili for parties and invited my friends over to eat it with me... I haven't felt like doing that in years, though.)
I hope you have a good day at work and a good week, too.3 people like this

@DaddyEvil Try being more healthy. You can do it

I have seen that chili is a very popular dish there. If I am not wrong, it's a Mexican dish.

Probably I won't do that...
Yes, it was a Mexican dish before Americans took it away from them.

@sathviksouvik Well, winters are for stuffed parathas with butter. Our appetite increases for such food in cold weather.

Oh! Radish is my favourite. I love it in salad with it's tender leaves. And a bit of mustard oil to the salad makes it extra special
.
Today I harvested four radish from my terrace garden. That is good enough for mooli paratha tomorrow morning for breakfast

That food looks tempting. I have had very rough one month from September 30th. I caught covid for the second time and then my mother wasn’t well. And I have been working even when I had covid so there was no rest. Then we went to my in laws house to visit them and it was equally very hectic. I have been craving for a slow day or two days of my weekoffs. My weekoff falls on Thursday Friday but again I had family visiting over. So I haven’t slept well or even eaten good comforting food.
Today finally I got up regularly at 5:30 AM just cleaned my house mopped my floors today and washed my kitchen station. The house looks fresh and clean. Smells good. We had bread for breakfast with a good string tea. And for the lunch we plan to get from out. Now I am just waiting to get a good day off for me to rest.

@arunima25 yes it really does. I feel so tired and bingo my first covid was last April too and this one is second time and maybe which is why I have fallen more weaker?

Oh! Sorry about the rough time that you have faced. I got Covid last April and over reacted to the second dose of vaccination. That made me more sick than the covid actually did. Covid can leave you extremely weak. I still face some long term effects of Covid and the vaccination. Please take good care of yourself. Good nutrition, staying hydrated and a good rest is extremely important. I hope that you get some good rest soon. Sending positive vibes and prayers for your full recovery

@Archie0 It really weakens you. I took weeks to gain back my strength. Please take good care of yourself. Ask for help. Ask your family members to give you some space and time to catch up with all the rest that your body needs.

@arunima25 My grandmother used to say that we start eating with "our eyes". She was right, something well presented is more tempting.

Thank you Anna. I don't add food colour. A nicely presented food becomes more tempting.

@LadyDuck Actually that's true. A mindful eating is actually eating with all our senses.
. And it does start with eyes

From the Covid times, I like to keep my weekend relaxed and slow indoors. I try to finish most of the chores and errands on weekdays and just relax on weekends.
The day at work was good..I have some chores to finish after lunch. I will mylot for a while till husband finishes his business call and joins me for lunch. The aroma of the hot rice is making me hungry and no better distraction than Mylot

Thank you. The week has started good. I am happy that the bright sun is out and the weather is nice. The last week was mostly gloomy and raining.

I like the ceramic spoons. How do you keep the sauce in the spoons from flowing off the plate if you use the sauce on the chili dish? Or maybe you just eat that separately? I'm not understanding. I hope you continue to have a wonderful Monday.

That's more for plating for the food photography
. Actually the spoons are deep to hold the sauces. We use toothpick or a small fork to take the chicken pieces and dip it in the sauce before eating. Mostly we take the sauce on the sides of the plate. This ceramic spoon is only for guest
or when you need a beautiful presentation.
I am back from work , just in time for a hot home cooked meal
. The day at work was smooth. I have few chores to take care of after lunch

@Fleura I enjoy cooking. Since I have been cooking from a very young age of 8, I have become a pro at it. I can throw a big party if given advance notice of one day

Well, that might sound elaborate but took me only an hour to cook and get everything ready. I didn't do much other than cooking. My daughter helped me with chopping and cutting. And husband did the dishes later
.
Saturday was no cooking day as husband made one pot rice meal and that was enough for two times

Today was good. The lovely weather made a good start to the week. It's 6 PM here and I hope that the rest of the week goes well
This plating is done by my niece for her food photography assignment. My elder daughter left for college in other state in August. My husband's niece has moved in with us to do her degree in journalism for four years. Her college is a ten minutes walk from our home and she will stay with us for four years. She is same age as my elder one. So, while my elder daughter is at college campus for years, she is here using her room. She is a good company and we enjoy her. At least my younger daughter gets a company when her sister has moved out.

It was a perfect Sunday with good food and good company. I do that on weekends. I cook extra so that I don't have to cook in the evening and I can enjoy or take care of other things.

@aninditasen We all need such breaks. I take a few breaks. When I have to do some other work in the afternoon like making worksheet, lesson plan or some extra chores, I make something for the dinner in the morning itself. Or else my daughter and husband manage. So, I do skip cooking a few meals in a week. We manage with leftover or somebody else in the family cooks or we order

Thank you. It's a Chinese dish but in Indian restaurants and homes, you find an Indian version of the same.
