Areca palms in our garden just proliferate. All what they need is water. They produce seeds and they too gereminate. There are scores of areca palms in our garden and they produce suckers and what we see are clusters.
I wish I had the ability to sell. I am no good in selling There are hundreds out there that could be pulled out and planted in pots or plastic bags and attempts made to sell.
I am hoping one day I will get the selling spirit.
What do you do with surplus plants?

I do not pull out palms as our garden is pretty big and somehow they do not look as though they are invaders. I would like however to give away if there is a demand.

@LadyDuck Some plants thrive even without pampering and palms are one such. In your case I can say they are invaders and invaders need to be pulled out.

@allknowing - I have no palms in our garden and those are growing where they should not. I am going to talk with my neighbor, the next time he calls the gardener to trim his hedge, he can send him to pull out those unwanted palms.

@allknowing I guess you can contact them and see if they will buy your plants.

@rsa101 When it comes to selling I just do not know how to do it.
We have some healthy ficus shoots. The guy at the nursery sells them at as high as Rs. 500 a plant. I will take courage and perhaps ask him if he is interested. I do not mind getting even Rs. 100

I dig surplus plants up, usually put them into a plastic bag and then give them away.

We hardly have anyone here who maintain gardens that need palms. That is a good gesture on your part. My next door neighbour was given some and they have loads now.

@allknowing There aren't many people in my part of the US who want large plants in their gardens unless they're long-lived trees and I can't just pull those up and give them away. Most of the stuff I grow are large grasses and potted plants.

I have the ficus palms as well - too many. They multiply on their own.
