A REAL Sightseeing Trip

No, I wasn’t gone very long. And yes, I had a blast. Aside from clearing my sinuses (which happened about 30 miles away from Louisville), the purpose of this little jaunt was to see the fall colors. And see them I did! In this collage you see (L-R) another shot from Weathington Park in Section, Alabama; the Tennessee River from a public boat launch area between Section and Scottsboro; looking down over Chattanooga from the lookout at Ruby Falls; and one of the many beautiful trees, this one at Langston, Alabama. In the Langston photo you can see the historical marker near the tree. It explained how Langston, originally Coffeetown, was a thriving area at one time…then the same “progress” that killed Paradise, Kentucky wiped another small town off the map. In that regard, the trip came full circle. It wasn’t “Mr. Peabody’s coal train” this time, but the same Tennessee Valley Authority, whose dam flooded Langston into oblivion. There are sad stories everywhere amid all the beauty. And the beauty was astonishing. Thanks for coming along!
