There it is. The “S” word. We had our first sn*wfall of the year overnight. The National Weather Service puts the “damage” at 1.2”. It was about 67 degrees F yesterday, so it didn’t cause any problems on the roads. Hooray. Now, GO AWAY, sn*w!!!! I don’t know if you saw, but Gallagher died. The famous watermelon-smashing comedian was 76. I saw him twice: once where he had the “Sledge-O-Matic,” and once where he didn’t. I always enjoyed his observational comedy. Well, here it is, four days after the election, and we still don’t know who has control of Congress. If you ever wondered how this “fraudulent election” myth could get legs under it (never mind actually be believed by millions), just look at this. I have a subscription to newspaper archive websites, and I’ve gone back to look at election results from the 30s, 40s, etc. They might have an early edition with no news about the results on Wednesday, but the Thursday paper always had your winners in the headlines. And THAT was without all this computer technology we have today!!! Now they’re “still counting.” (That’s not so much a political rant as it is a bureaucracy rant.) With my latest shipment of medications from your friends and mine (ha) at the Veterans Administration I cleaned out the medicine cabinet the other day. I took the old meds to one of those “safely dispose of your old medicines here” boxes at a Walgreen’s. Oh, and speaking of the other “Wally world,” I honestly don’t know HOW Walgreen’s stays in business. There’s pricy and expensive, then there’s Walgreen’s. Seriously, I saw some cough drops that I use when my sinuses drain. At Meijer there’s about $4.50 for a big bag. Walgreen’s? Try $7.50. What, is Elon Musk charging them to verify that they’re real cough drops? Now that it’s cold it’s time to go back inside the gym for walking. I like to walk outside, but going inside, along with the cold killing off the vegetation that’s still out there, might help my sinuses to stop hurting. I felt fine while I was out of town. I got home last Saturday night, and by Monday morning they were hurting again. I hope y’all have a great evening, morning, and/or what’s left of your weekend!!

I spent most of my teenage years and my first duty station in Florida. You don’t have to twist my arm any!

@thislittlepennyearns — Daytona Beach primarily, although we moved to the west coast (Venice) in the summer of ‘75…promptly moved back to DB. I went through boot camp in Orlando and my first duty station was NAS Jacksonville.

There is a lot more people voting now plus many states wont even start processing the mail ballots until the day of. There is a lot more to do to verify them now also. But you would think it could be faster than it is. I never go to Walgreens for anything. They just cost way too much. Except feeding critters outside I am now hibernating as much as possible.

I always say I can’t afford Kroger’s low prices, but Walgreen’s is just STUPIDLY overpriced. I know some states wait, but there’s all this computer equipment to help with the count and stuff…. I’m with you! My bed reclines in a “zero gravity” position, and with all these nice warm blankets why get up except to go to the bathroom?!

@FourWalls I dont shop Krogers either except to check out some of their holiday stuff sometimes. I think a lot is in getting enough help to confirm everything anymore. Mine is just an air bed. But with that heated blanket I dont want to leave.

It sure gets old waiting for these last election numbers to come in. I am anxious to see if Kari Lake loses in Arizona. I so want Katie Hobbs to win. Karin is one of those deniers and we sure don't need her in the mix. So it snowed where you are too. Several others on here said they got it. I won't say the name.

@FourWalls .........We used to get so much snow it was layered several feet tall in the mediums of the streets. That was about 25 years ago. Now we are only getting it a few times and not that much each time. I wonder how it will be this year.

They said it was a record snowfall for November 12 here, 1.2”. I’d take a whole winter of snowfalls like that one….1.2” today and gone tomorrow. Wishful thinking though.

I do remember Gallagher RIP Oh a bit of snow there now Four Walls. I think Elon Musk is sinking Twitter on purpose. Obliterating it.

@RebeccasFarm — one of my favorite movie lines comes from Klaatu in The Day the Earth Stood Still: I’m impatient with stupidity.

I can’t figure out why Musk is doing that to Twitter, unless he has stock in a competing company. There’s a part of me thinking T-man might have asked him to do it in revenge for them banning him, but I don’t think anyone is that loyal or stupid.

So far, no snow here but getting much colder. As they say in Game of Thrones, "Winter is Coming." Comedians whose act focuses on observational comedy are the best. What myth? It's pretty sad when France and Italy can get election results in faster and more accurately than the U.S. (could not resist the irony since you mentioned politics) As they say, you can't make this sh** up!

I enjoyed Gallagher because of that. It’s probably why Robert Klein is my favorite comedian. Observation humor rocks! Right now I think they got the results from George Washington’s election faster than we’re getting results now.

Hmm... after mailing in my vote, I haven't worried about checking to see who won. Pretty will tell me if it wasn't someone we "want/need" in the offices we were voting on. (Once in a while we vote for different people, so cancel our votes out. This time we were in agreement. *shrug*) You could have been wearing your mask any time you were outside. We've been having fewer allergic reactions, not to mention, no colds, in the last three years. It's really been nice!

Valerie is cheering because of the snow and you're complaining. Luckily, it takes all sorts to make up a world. I'm sorry about your sinuses. That can't be fun.

We had s**w three weeks ago; and that was enough for me. Sorry to hear about Gallagher. I need to get a carload of old medications and take them to CVS or Walgreen's. Will they take the meds without the labels on them? Hope your sinuses don't hurt. Have a good Sunday and an even better new week.

It bothers me that it takes four or five days to count votes when it never took that long in the 60s, 70s, or 80s. It certainly lends legitimacy to those “election fraud” theories….especially given that you don’t tend to see a Republican winning a five-day long vote count.

@FourWalls And people wonder why election results are doubted and questioned. You are right about the results. Democratic winner in almost every case. Kind of a duh situation.
