More Camping World Follies

Marcus Lemonis, I love you man, but I have to tell you that my honest assessment of your baby, Camping World, it sucks. Customer service is subpar. Lack of attention to customers and customer's needs is subpar. Lack of attention to detail seems the standard. I remember everyone telling me when we bought the camper there, "When you buy a camper from us you are our priority." Yeah, right. My experience from purchase to now has not illustrated anything even remotely resembling that. I am not at all unhappy with my purchase. But I can tell you this. My next camper purchase will NOT be from Camping World. I called the service department this morning wanting to schedule for a winterization and some other help. I got sent to a voicemail. Left a message. Never got a response. Three hours later I called again and got sent to Chicagoland RV sales. I was trying to reach the Wentzville, Missouri shop. She said she would redirect me and hung up on me. I called again and said I could not get hold of anyone and the guy who took the call said he would take a message and give it to the shop manager personally. I still never got a call back. I will call them back again tomorrow and let them know point-blank that I am not happy and not at all impressed with their service.

Customer service is a huge part of the deal. I wish you luck.

After the fourth try I told the gal that took my call to physically go and get the guy. She did and I got my appointment set up.

@CarolDM I think I told her, in so many words, "Unless he is in Chicago and not Wentzville, someone can grab him away from what he is doing to respond to a CUSTOMER." It got-r-done.

@porwest Go right to the source. I don't blame you.

That's terrible! With some businesses, once they've made a sale then they don't care any more.

@porwest Maybe he is too busy being on TV to keep an eye on his own business.

@JudyEv Or he may just actually be more of an empty suit than he has been made out to be.

I hate to say it, but from my perspective and my experience so far with them, it just seems like a very poorly run company—something that surprises me since I am quite familiar with the owner, Marcus Lemonis, who has a business show on CNBC, The Profit where he goes into struggling businesses, invests in them, takes over and tries to turn them around, while berating the "new partners" for their bad business practices. Fascinating and fun show to watch, but doesn't seem like his own principles carry over much in his flagship company.

@porwest — honestly, that’s not “gloating.” I’ve heard so many horror stories about them that I feel obligated to try to steer people away from them.

I hope you speak to a helpful live person and aren't sent to voicemail again.

@porwest That's ridiculous! I'm glad you finally talked to someone.

I finally did get someone, but only after I told the person who took the call to physically go and get the guy, that I would NOT be sent to voicemail again. It took four calls to get in touch with someone.

Sounds like our Subaru dealership. Try and get a supervisor when you call back.

One thing Camping World seems big on and presses hard for are "good reviews" and "high star ratings." They literally ask for them. EARN them and you won't have to ask.

Camping World does not have a great reputation among seasoned campers in this area either. I wouldn't go to them for service and certainly wouldn't buy a camper from them.

Wow, what sh*tty service! But sadly, that has become the reality of the world we live in with just about every company we do business with. Nobody seems to care about customer service anymore.

It really has, sadly, become that way. I tell you this, if SOMEONE figures that out, and I mean REALLY figures that out—if that person can deliver good prices AND stellar customer experience? That person may make Elon Musk look like a pauper.
