The Great California Breakup

Well, I have to say NO again, as he emailed me and asked if there was anything I could do. 5 days into the breakup, and I don't feel sad, and I don't feel like trying to fix things. I feel relief. So I need to tell him that. He can keep his stuff here as long as he needs, but as far as sleeping here, he can either do that downstairs or somewhere else. The only bad feelings I feel are guilt because I'm throwing him out of his home, basically, but I don't feel the kind of bad feelings you have when a relationship ends and you don't want it to.

I'm glad you took that step and hope you and the kids are all doing okay. It's always hard ending a relationship but sometimes, that's the only thing you can do.

@dawnald Anger could be a health issue. You have no doubt taken your decision but yoga and meditation helps such patients. We have not interacted with each other for some time but I do remember you talking about Toni a lot those days.

That is good of you. There comes a time when feelings just go away. I tried to keep mine together for over ten years until one day I woke up and the feelings were gone. I left and never looked back.

I had last week, actually, but he came back wanting another chance, and I don't need to be pressured no matter how politely, so he can keep his stuff here, but unless he wants to sleep downstairs, he can't sleep here.

@dawnald Yeah, it's hard to end a relationship that you've been in for several years. I know. I've been there. But sometimes it really is the best thing.

I know you feel like it is his home too, but has he helped with buying it, maintaining it? I am glad that you are not grieving the breakup, but seem to have your feet on the ground.

I can understand the guilt feelings (it's only natural), but I do believe you did the right thing for you. Here's to your happiness . . . I'm glad you are feeling relieved!!
