Had to detour...

Photo I took of the mail I got when I was out on my walk

Went to get the mail, and was going to go to the dirt trail in the back. There's been a pile of stuff back there for a while, and every once in a while, I'd see a different guy sitting back there--I think some of them sleep down by the creek. Anyway, today I looked over to the pile of stuff (old blankets, jackets, old food containers) and there was a guy walking back and forth yelling at nothing. I decided to go a different way, and thought of going to the main office and saying something. As I walked away, I noted that a couple of police cars pulled in, so evidently someone else had noticed the guy too. I felt kind of bad--I don't know whether the guys behavior was drug related or a mental issue, but if it was a either way it was definitely sad.

In any case, you do not know what he was capable of and I am glad you made it home safely.

I feel as you do when I see anything like this. I feel sorry for the person but it’s scary too. It’s probably best to stay away from the dirt trail.

I go on it all the time. That was the first person I ever saw back there behaving like that.

Is there any reason why local government authorities don't clean up the trash pile back there or enforce no trespassing ordinances? Or is it a case of "out of sight, out of mind?"

Probably the latter.

@xstitcher That seems to be very common in many communities. So many times I've heard, "well, if they're not bothering anyone, just let them be."
