I still have over $4000 in student loans after graduating college and working for the past 22 years. The monthly payment isn’t awful ($83). I applied for loan forgiveness as soon as I could. It was easy and took like 2 minutes. I just received an email stating that my application was approved. That’s all well and good but there is a lawsuit currently trying to block student loan forgiveness so nothing will happen with it for now. The Biden administration has extended the pause in loan repayment until June while the court case plays out. It will be interesting to see what the court says about student loan forgiveness.

You mean students will be relieved of loan payment that burden them?

These student loans should receive forgiveness, the Republican's feel threatened by this! That money belongs to the wealthy, from their perspective!

The courts have said this is illegal what Biden is trying to do.

I think DOJ appealed it to the Supreme Court

@CarolDM I'm not disputing that. No one seemed worried about Trump's huge tax cuts for the wealthy several years ago. No one seemed to care about forgiveness of PPP loans during the heydey of COVID. As I've said before--in the grand scheme of my life $83/month isn't a big deal. I know that I'm lucky to be able to say that. If the student loan forgiveness goes through I will be grateful. If it doesn't then it won't have a negative impact on my life.

@NJChicaa Biden’s plan to forgive student loan debt for many borrowers will cost roughly $400 billion, according to a Congressional Budget Office estimate, rekindling a debate over the cost of student debt forgiveness and whether the plan will accelerate inflation. But that is not a problem anyone wants to address.

Loan forgiveness mean you don't have to pay back?
