As the title says, these little guys or quokkas are thus considered because they have such friendly appearances. A few years ago, quokka selfies had become a trend in Australia. Quokkas are native to a narrow strip of range in southwest Western Australia as well as on Rottnest Island and Bald Island. They like different habitats that can range from semi-arid scrub forests to even suburban gardens. During the day they can be found sleeping in spiny Acanthocarpus plants for protection and climbing trees to escape predators. Quokkas are herbivores and they eat shrubs, leaves, bark, and grasses. They are nocturnal and most active at night. Around water sources, gatherings of 25-150 of these animals can be seen. Female quokkas have a month-long gestation period and give birth to a single joey. It remains in her pouch for six months and after leaving the pouch will continue to nurse for an additional two to three months before becoming independent.

I wonder how much of a nuisance they are to gardens and flowerbeds? They are cute, though, but so are squirrels and we hate them to get into the flowerbeds and gardens.

My goodness, the face resembles a squirrel, yet the quokkas have a pouch similar to a kangaroo.
