Newsom won't run for President? So I'll be batting only .500.

A few months ago, I predicted that Ron DeSantis, Governor of Florida, would make a run for President of the United States in 2024. I may have been right.
But my tea leaves also told me that California's Governor, Gavin Newsom, would ultimately run as well.
Were my leaves wrong? According to the article I'll attach I apparently was. Joe Biden has just turned 80. His VP is not popular. Who will the Democrats trot out there?
Inquiring minds want to know. Any thoughts?
Newsom informed the White House that he would not be a candidate even if Biden decided not to seek re-election.

@kobesbuddy Which means he did not get enough positive attention early on. I still think his overall sense of inferiority comes from his early dyslexia. But that has not been "documented."

My understanding is that Newsom said he wouldn't run against Biden if he chose to seek re-election. If Biden chooses not to then he would be a frontrunner IMO.
I don't even know who I think would be a viable candidate. Kamala has crashed and burned as VP. Amy Klobuchar has been largely out of the public. I love Elizabeth Warren but I don't think she would be a good Presidential candidate. Pete Buttigieg seems to be the best positioned for a run. No one in the Democrat party really stands out to me as someone with a chance. . . including Joe Biden.
I can only hope that the GOP runs Trump again. Pretty much anyone the Dems pit against him could beat him.

From what I've been reading, the Republicans are done with Trump. He is toxic. And if his narcissism led him to run as an Independent, even Harris could win. If I suggested that Liz Cheney run as a Democrat, I'd be kidding. But she could win!

@TheHorse Liz Cheney cannot win as a Democrat or an Independent. Obviously not as a Republican.
Trump is toxic and is only getting worse with his involvement with Kanye and now Nick Fuentes yesterday. De Santis and Youngkin are *dying* to run as well as Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio. De Santis is the only one with a shot, though. From what I've read, though, is that DeSantis doesn't play well outside of Florida and would perform horribly in debates.
I don't see any obvious candidate for either party except maybe for DeSantis. As you said, the normal GOP is *DONE* with Trump.

I thought Gavin Newsom would be on the ticket, in 2024. He's young, brilliant and he displays a lot of promise. Ron DeSantis, I don't know anything about this man.

@kobesbuddy No. I was referring to Desantis. Newson has done a good job in California. Hes a Democrat.

The problem right now is that neither party has a good candidate. The Republican choices are between a narcissistic sociopath with delusions of grandeur who longs to be a dictator free of Congress and the Courts or a full-blown racist, fascist, theocrat who longs to be a dictator free of Congress and the Courts. The Democratic choices are an octogenarian, and ????? No one stands out on the Dem side as a strong candidate as yet.

I think he'll either end up running after all or he'll run in 2028. I don't think he wants to upstage Biden right now.
