Barley water

The Net has been singing the praises of barley water specially about its benefit for those who want to lose weight. Since I am keen on losing weight I bought some barley and I now have barley water in the fridge.
The problem is they never mentioned about the fact that it leads to flatulence. I have been drinking it for the last few days and I am experiencing that - not a nice feeling
Not sure I will continue as I would rather go for something that is more comfortable
.
Any idea how to reduce weight?

@LadyDuck All said and done I am not a heavy eater. I could call myself a nibbler. I even skip dinner. So I must see what makes me put on weight

@allknowing I never fully give up sweets, I only eat a little piece of chocolate or a cookie, but I do not give up sweet. It's easier for me to avoid all kind of fast and to cut on pasta, rice and bread.

I have never tried barley water and I don't think I would want to, There is also this recipe on the net
Lemon Water and Honey Recipe for Weight Loss
Blend 1/2 fresh lemon into juice.
Mix juice with 1 teaspoon of organic honey in a cup of warm water.

I have drunk barley water, my mother used to say it was supposed to be good for the kidneys. Don't know about weight loss though. But I didn't experience any adverse effects. That sounds unpleasant. Maybe it's something your body will become accustomed to, if you start off with it more diluted?

The ratio suggested was 1:6 where one is barley and 6 is water. Probably that was wrong.

@allknowing Maybe it is something your digestive system becomes accustomed to, like eating a lot of beans.

@JudyEv The gas bloating the stomach and then pushing my diaphragm is not a happy experience. I did not take it today and all was hunky dory. At the same time I want to lose weight. Still in a quandary!!
