Morocco beat Belgium by 2-0 in the ongoing Qatar Football World cup. Soon after the match, some crazy (or lunatics)fans started overturning cars, putting things on fire and other rioting and arson. Incidents were reported in Brussels, Antwerp as well as Rotterdam. Police was called in but at a few places, some police officials too bore the brunt. Some have been arrested and the authorities would charge a penalty from their parents. Sounds a good idea, but what about miscreants who don't listen to their guardians or parents. The situation got under control later on but perhaps more steps ought to be taken to prevent such rioting. In this regard, may be Belgium can also have an anti-riot police as India has. News source :
Europe News: The riots took place in several places across the Belgian capital where dozens of soccer fans, some draped in Moroccan flags, clashed with riot police

This is such stupid behaviour. I have no time for people who do this.

@JudyEv I wonder if such people have no sense of civility? Plus some criminals too could be joining in such arson.

@JudyEv And they make others suffer financially or in other ways. Plus the general social peace is also disturbed.

Wow. If someone is passionate about something I'm all for it, that's good, but to that extent? No that's just animalistic behavior there

@FayeHazel A mindless behavior and may be an underlying psychological condition to indulge in violence even on petty contexts. A game should be viewed as a game only - nothing more than that.

I think anyone who riots like that after a sports game and destroys property, need to spend some time in jail. I don't care how old they are.

@LeaPea2417 Yes and perhaps the offence should be non-bailable as well.

These kinds of riots are so stupid and always wind up getting so many hurt,

@RasmaSandra Some get madder after either their team's loss or win and the drinks have their impact too.

Hmm, never thought Belgians to behave like hooligans as they are mostly peaceful civilised people. I think this early setback and departure of Belgium came as a shocker as maybe these guys have betted high stakes upon Belgium in the World Cup.

@Sojourn That could be one of the reasons, but some identified miscreants were seemingly Moroccan supporters. So it could be fans of both sides who were responsible for these incidents.

Riots are never good to see. I hope nobody was injured. I also read about crazy Covid lockdowns in China. Protestors are all over there and many being killed as a fire broke out while they were nailed shut in their apartment buildings. Sad to see this happen.

@CarolDM Yes the China incident was also an unfortunate one. Police has started taking action including arrests against the miscreants in Belgium.

These football fanatics? I hope no one got hurt but I could imagine the damage to property that would have caused. There are many such fans around the world, and I'm guessing most of them are men. But when women/girls clap/applaud/or become fan girls of artists, some people tag them as "crazy" or that the fandom is a cult. I know I went off-topic but now that you mentioned it, this has proven again the different perceptions some people have about fangirls.

@Jenaisle Being a fan or even a crazy fan is ok. Mindlessly destroying or damaging vehicles or torching them is never acceptable, whatever be the match results.
