The Notebook on Netflix

When I first saw this movie it was not on Netflix. I cannot remember what I watched it on. I wondered why it was called The Notebook and according to Google the story in the present was read from a Notebook. I thought when he read to Allie in the Nursing Home that it was from a book. I could be wrong. How have seen this? This was my 2nd time watching it. I saw it a long time ago and so when I saw it on Netflix I decided to watch it again. It is starring Ryan Gosling as Noah and Rachael McAdams as Allie. They fall in love but it is a very very deep love because they fight a lot but they are so crazy about each other. It is supposed to have been a summer fling. She leaves after the summer and goes to not where she lives in Charleston but to a school in New York and she waits for him and feels he does not write her. He wrote her every day but never once received an answer back. After a time passed he decided to join the Army with his best friend that he worked with in the mines. He was not rich so really could not provide for her. He did make her a promise that a place he brought her to was a plantation and he told her he would fix it up for them to live in. He returned from the Army but his best friend did not make it and then his father died and he hooked up with a widow but I believe in the back of his mind he always wanted Allie to return to him. Allie met someone her family approved of that came from money and she fell in love and got engaged to him. One day she went to check on Noah and saw that he finished the house and it was beautiful and she wanted to know if he was ok. They fell in love over again and when she found out her fiance was in town she went to talk to him. She explained to him that when she was with him she felt one way and when she was with Noah she felt another way. In other words she loved them both. So, which one were you rooting for? I just watched it and did not root for either one but who she ended up with I was happy. It was a real true love story and even though they fought their love was so much stronger. I will not tell you who she ended up with or the rest of the story because that would spoil it for those that have not seen it and want to watch it. I will leave it. I would say whoever she ended up with was her soulmate in many ways. So, let me know what you think of the movie if you watched it before or if you want to watch it?

I've never seen it - I don't like the bit about fighting a lot, if they fight a lot when they're new in love - just think once all the fun newness wears off. On the other hand... with the fiance it seems like her family approving and his coming from money may have had something to do with her feelings for him. That's hard to say

@FayeHazel You are probably right about why she went back to Noah. I believe they had true love. That is just how they were about the fighting bit. They were crazy about each other so that did not bother them. They were really in love so nothing else mattered. They never lost their love. I understand maybe this movie is not the right one for you because of the guy and how he told you all those things and then when someone else came along he chose her and not you. I am so sorry. Maybe when the time is right you may want to watch it and I hope you can.

@FayeHazel You just have not met the right one for you yet. There are so many out there that are nasty and cruel and should be put in their places. You are welcome and yes, I care about you and how you are. I hope your Mom realizes are important you are to her and does not end up like your father was.

@Hannihar Oh thanks. I appreciate your caring. :-) It's not just that one, he was the cruelest though. It's been a lot of them. Say one thing, definitely lead me on, then - were never interested. Why act interested if you arent? It's not cool. But... that's ok. Maybe single is best.

@RebeccasFarm I did not like her Mom at all. I thought she was a snob even though she fell in love with a poor guy once too. I loved the movie and as long it is still here I want to watch it again and something else again.

I've watched this movie and it made me cry in some parts but it made me happy in the end because true love triumphs. Sometimes, there are moments n life when you have to listen to your heart to come to the right decision. As Saint de Exupery said: "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly."

@Jenaisle I agree with you about the movie. There are times one cries during it and times when one is happy about how it turned out. I do not believe in Saints because as a Jew I believe only in The G-d of the Jewish People and what he or our prophets says.

@Hannihar Oh, I see, no offense meant. But he is not a saint but a French writer, poet, and journalist. His complete name is: Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Take care.

@Hannihar I met him on an AOL message board many years ago. I meet him in person when I was 17. We don't see each other too often. He wants me to visit him after Christmas. I will try to do that.

I have watched this movie so many times. It made me feel every kind of emotion through out the film. It could probably be one of the most beautiful and romantic movie ever made out there which can never be forgotten.

@yoalldudes There are always critics out there that want to take something away from us and this person wanted to take away the good feeling you had about this movie. I also feel it is very special love story.

@yoalldudes I believe her parents probably said it but she was drawn to Noah. Thank you and you are right I am not easily swayed. I wrote how I feel. I really understood and loved this movie the 2nd time around.
