Trundling through Gare du Nord train station early this morning I heard a man behind me shouting “monsieur, monsieur”. Hardly surprising in Paris so I trundled on. The voice persisted and I got the impression that I might be the Monsieur in question. I turned round and noted a young man coming through the crowd in my direction, holding my wallet out to me. I hadn’t realised that I had dropped it, and am still dumbfounded that someone in the crowd had noticed, stopped and returned my wallet to its rightful owner, contents intact. Dumbfounded and ever so pleased. I took the wallet from the young man’s hand and he was swallowed up by the crowd hardly giving me time to shout “merci” in his direction.

This is a first! A young man who picked up the wallet you dropped and gave it back to you. I am impressed!

What are you doing in Paris at this time of year?

@maluse November is our favourite time of year to be in Paris - it’s all mist and melancholy! Moreover, this is when the Nouveau Beaujolais arrives each year.
