Trundling through Gare du Nord train station early this morning I heard a man behind me shouting “monsieur, monsieur”. Hardly surprising in Paris so I trundled on. The voice persisted and I got the impression that I might be the Monsieur in question.
I turned round and noted a young man coming through the crowd in my direction, holding my wallet out to me. I hadn’t realised that I had dropped it, and am still dumbfounded that someone in the crowd had noticed, stopped and returned my wallet to its rightful owner, contents intact. Dumbfounded and ever so pleased.
I took the wallet from the young man’s hand and he was swallowed up by the crowd hardly giving me time to shout “merci” in his direction.

You were blessed indeed. You will never forget that. It could have easily gone the other way.
