Another new-to-me recipe

I wrote a while ago about my chilli pepper harvest https://www.mylot.com/post/3530947/how-to-store-chillies I looked at things to do with chillies and one thing I found was a recipe for sweet chilli jam, so I thought I would try that. This time the recipe was on the BBC Good Food website, which is pretty reliable in my experience. In reality the result is probably more of a pepper jam since regular peppers make up most of the ingredients, and it also didn’t set (and most of the reviewers on the site also found the same) so it’s probably not really jam! But anyway I made three jars and it was rather on the runny side but delicious! I gave one jar to a friend and I’ve already eaten half of the next one. Now I plan to make a larger batch, probably using some of my Scotch Bonnets this time. I’m also going to stew up an apple or two and then strain off the liquid to add some pectin so hopefully it will actually set this time. If anyone else wants to try this, the recipe is here https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/sweet-chilli-jam All rights reserved. © Image copyright Fleur 2022.

If it is delicious, who cares if it didn't set as well as you'd hoped?

I'm just making the second batch. I'm trying with a bit less sugar this time as suggested by some of the reviewers.

I like chili jam, I prepare it every year both using red Italian chili and jalapenos chili from my garden. I have checked this recipe, but I will stick on mine, no tomatoes and no garlic, a real jam.

The Scotch Bonnet jam sounds a bit on the warm side. I have a similar jam to the one you made and it was very tasty

It might be the runny one but definitely must be too delicious for you to try making it in larger batches. Hopefully with your new experiments it settles down this time

My sister used to make pepper jelly often. She liked food on the spicy side. This recipe sounds good.
