The science end of our wing decorated for Christmas

I'm in the middle of the wing and across from a stairwell so I'm kind of in No Man's Land even though I am part of the science deparrtment. I have a Spanish class and a math class between me and the other science teachers in this wing. (We are all over the building) The other end of the wing is math teachers. Anyway the science peeps in the wing did Nightmare From Christmas (or whatever it is called) as the theme for their Halloween costumes. (which is actually where that creepy mask came from in the bathroom that I posted about yesterday) They put up lights in the hall. I was surprised that they left them up after Halloween. They weren't turned on. . . until yesterday. They are now Christmas lights. The guy who did them is on the school climate committee which tries to make the building feel friendlier and happier. He plays music in the halls between classes almost every day and now we have the lights. I'm actually shocked that the principal hasn't made him take them down because they are definitely against the fire code. We used to not even be allowed to put up lights around our boards or doors. Oh well. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. I have lights that I'll put around my whiteboards tomorrow. Well I will take them out and ask some tall students to put them up for me.

I think it’s cool that the lights are up in the hallway. Schools can be such bland, vanilla places, so it’s good to see a little color and variety. I will say, the first thought that came to mind when I saw the photo was “How long until some smarta$$ student rips those down?”

That looks delightful. I hope the students don't tear them down!
