Whiskey the puppy is here

My neighbor is working like a 16 hour shift today or something crazy like that. I didn't see her daughter here this afternoon but she didn't ask me to let her 5 month old French bulldog puppy out. I have a key to her apartment but I didn't want to just go in there without her asking. She texted me like 20 minutes ago asking if I had seen Whiskey. I told her I hadn't. She said "go see him! He is crying in his crate." (she has a camera on his crate) I went right over and he was SO happy to see me. I let him lick and jump and wiggle his little butt there for about 5 minutes and then I brought him over here. He is currently running up and down the hall playing with Charlie. Striper is sleeping through it and Adso is hiding in the bath tub. I'll keep him here until either my neighbor or her daughter comes to retrieve him or until I go to sleep. It really is no extra work to have him here. He uses the potty pads by the door so he doesn't make a mess. And playing with Charlie is good for both of them.

Why did they put him in a crate?

He is a puppy and not totally housetrained. My neighbor works 12+ hour shifts and her 18 year old daughter is usually not around. He can't have free run of the apartment or he would pee and poop everywhere.

@NJChicaa Wow, a puppy needs someone in the home.

@RubyHawk I don't disagree. She works 12 hour shifts at a minimum and her teenage daughter isn't reliable to help with the puppy. She is always asking her mother, a friend, or me to help. I truly don't mind it. She is very grateful and appreciative but I literally live feet away from her. It isn't much of an effort for me to get him from his crate, take him outside, and bring him here to play for awhile.

That's so hard on a puppy, being left in a crate for hours. Ordinarily, they need attention, space to play in and stretch their legs. I don't blame Whiskey for crying I certainly would, also!

I am SO happy that you got Whiskey. It breaks my heart to think of a puppy confined to a crate for hours and hours at a time.
