Got off at the wrong floor!

Are you as absent minded as me? I stay on the fifth floor. After work yesterday, I got into the lift (elevator) at our apartment and punched in for the 5th floor. I was alone and a little distracted on the phone, checking messages. The lift doors opened after a while and I stepped out - but we had only reached the third floor. Silly me! Got back sheepishly into the lift and this time concentrated better and got off the 5th floor. Have you ever done something absent minded as this recently?!

Pretty and I were going to a new doctor's office in a high rise building a few years ago. The elevator was crowded and noisy... We both thought we heard the elevator announce out floor and got off three floors too soon... We were both embarrassed and didn't want to turn around and admit we were wrong, so we took the stairs for the last three flights. (It's funny now but sure wasn't funny then! We rarely take an elevator because most buildings here are only two or three floors. We live in a small city and only go to the big cities if we absolutely have to go to one.)

I do this sort of stuff all the time. It's pretty normal for me. Not that we have lifts but I do other stupid things. I tried to go in the neighbour's door once.

@pitstop Luckily it was locked and I don't think they would have heard me. I got out of there very quickly once I realised.

I did it once. I got out in the 6th floor though I stayed in the 8th floor.

I think most of us have done this before. It can be a little embarrassing but it happens.

Yes, I did, we live on the 7th floor, and for some reason I must have pressed six, and I got out and tried to put my key in the apartment on the 6th floor, it didn't work and then I saw the number 21 instead of 23, so I sneaked away and walked up the flight of stairs. . .

I always check before getting out, my husband does exactly what you did, as soon as the elevators tops and the doors open he gets out.

@pitstop - I think so, as the elevators stops the rush out without checking the floor first.
