The swan by Stowe Pool

It was very foggy and I knew it would be very cold, so I got out my warm winter coat with fur lining and hood. I took the Christmas cards I was going to post and Mum gave me 2 second class stamps to go on the ones for America. I put them in the trolley. As I was walking round Stowe Pool I saw a beautiful swan. He (or she) was swimming towards me, so I started videoing it. It came up level with me and started to come out of the water and up onto the bank. I thought it was going to attack me! (I've heard swans can be vicious sometimes!) But he didn't be just stood there posing, and a guy who was passing said so too! I took a few photos and carried on towards town. (See picture above.) I went to the toilet by the Cathedral first, then I went to Tesco and got some strawberries and a cucumber. Then I went to Holland and Barrett and got some liquorice, but the black liquorice was sold out so I got red ones and there was only 2 of them so I got one for my Mum and one for my step-dad, and I got a packet of random liquorice for myself. I also got a bar of sugar free chocolate for my Mum and 3 packs of seaweed thins for me. Then I went to the post office in WH Smith. There was a really long queue in the post office which is a bit strange. Well, it's coming up to Christmas so I suppose people were sending parcels and getting their Christmas stamps and stuff. I myself was there for Christmas stamps! When I (eventually) got to the cashier I got 12 first class Christmas stamps. Then I went and looked for the Doctor Who magazine 2023 Yearbook. I was looking everywhere and I thought I wasn't going to be able to find it, but eventually I did and I payed for it at the self-service checkout. Then I remembered I hadn't put "Airmail" on my USA Christmas cards! So I went to The Works and got 6 grey double ended felt tip pens. Then I went straight back to the toilet, wrote "Airmail" on the USA Christmas cards, put the first class Christmas stamps on all the Christmas cards and headed off for the post box. So now all my Christmas cards have been sent. Then I went to Iceland and got a chicken and prawn paella, a Hunters Chicken and some lamb burgers for my Mum, and an Amazon gift card for me. Mum wanted some shortbread for presents (you might remember I forgot them in the big Tesco on Wednesday!) but my Mum wanted them in tins, not boxes. There were some shortbread in Iceland, but in boxes not tins. So then I went to Wilko and they did have shortbread, but in boxes not tins! So I went all the way back to Tesco and found some shortbread in tins! (Phew!) They were £5 each with club card and Mum had £20 left so I got 4. (Mum did say get as many as possible!) They only just fit in the trolley! So then I came home, and I didn't bother going to the toilet again! I brought the shortbread out first and showed my Mum. Then I unpacked the rest of the groceries. Then I redeemed my gift card and quickly sent off for an Andre Rieu DVD fanpack that I really wanted which includes a cushion, a tea towel and 2 mugs! I had my soup late because my feet ached but it was worth it. I hope you are all well. Have a great day.

I'm glad the swan was friendly and didn't come and peck me. Stamps are probably different where you live. Our Christmas stamps have a picture of the nativity on them..

We can ask for "Airmail Stamps", they come with the sticker "Airmail" so there is nothing more to do. I am not going to send cards this year.

@sharonelton I am only going to send e-cards this year, as I do not know if those I know will spend the holidays at home or in another place.

I always write airmail on my envelopes! They seem to get there alright. I'm only sending Christmas cards to people who sent me one last year!

@LadyDuck I don't understand e-cards. I'm not keen on anything digital! I'm on old fashioned girl and I like actual physical things you can hold in your hand!

Yes, it was. I was later home than I usually am because of standing in the queue and walking back up to Tesco again afterwards for the shortbread.

Yes, I did get lots of exercise on Friday. I thought I was going to be really stiff on.Saturday, but I wasn't! I hope you managed/manage to get your stamps. I've still got some Christmas presents to get. I've just done the laundry. The last loads in now.
