Reward from Recycling

Philippines
December 4, 2022 12:41pm CST
When the local government became strict with segragating recycled items, in exchange for small grocery items for every kilo sold. My recycled trash got doubled since I missed the last trade. Sadly, despite alot of items , the total amount worth of groceries was only four dollars. I was kinda disappointed. So, I went to the junkshop instead and sold my rusted treadmill. I got 10$ from it.

I guess the gesture was just to encourage you to recycle things so there would be less trash littering around. I think they may have a small budget to spend on that project that is why.

@Letranknight2015 Oh well I guess the budget allocated for it is not enough for them to make it sustainable.

@rsa101 I don't want to stop segregating though. It has helped me not bulk up the trash. But it has made spent on it more.

Hello @rsa101 Since the implementation, I havent spotted any single inspector when it comes to trash. Looks like they forgot about it now. But that didn't stop me from segregating trash.

That is nice that they will give you money to recycle things. So nice to keep things out of the landfill.

It's crazy how much biodegredable is left behind once you start segragating. Probably half the trash bin @shaggin

I think this is a very good project. It will be helpful to have a good change for the environment. I hope we can also have the similar project here. Usually the encouragements like this will work better.

Sadly, it's not going to last long. Some trash are no longer recycled among neighbors. So far Ihave successfully continue doing the recycing in some trash @youless

That would still help encourage people to recycle.

I'm not sure what the others are doing @wolfgirl569 but if they are working and too busy, I doubt they can maintain it for long.

I think because they charge people for bags (whether plastic, paper or new cloth ones), they should GIVE us .10c per bag we use that are re-useable. It's not much but getting .10c is better than spending .10c.

They also charge here per bags @patgalca sadly, the groceries offered sucks but that's worth four bucks best of them can offer.

Hello @marguicha We had been introduced with recycling and segregating years ago. But people forget it after a while since LGU ordinance such as this don't stay lng much.

You'd have to have a ton of bottles to really get any money. But it adds up
