Chili Dogs Tonight?

Of course, I made a heaping pot of chili in the crock pot for dinner last night, and so what seems like a good idea after that? Chili dogs. Not sure what sides I will have with them. Maybe mac and cheese or something, with a little veggie cause I need my veggies to keep the grinders working tip top shape you know. Do you like chili dogs?

@Tampa_girl7 Hmm. I have never had slaw on a chili dog. I can imagine that would be interesting.

@porwest We don't eat hotdogs. Your chili still sounds wonderful to me.

MMM. Making me hungry for some more chili dogs. My wife is not a huge fan so I rarely make them. But I sure do like them.

Don’t think I’ve ever had chili dogs. At least cannot recall. Are they very spicy? I’ve been craving for hot dogs lately. I’d try a chili dog if I can find a restaurant that serves it.

@porwest I don’t know a place near me that has hot dogs on the menu but if I go to Yelp and type the word hot dog maybe it will bring up places with hot dog on the menu.

@porwest for some reason chili makes me think of chili pepper lol. Is that even in the ingredients?

They are only spicy if you make a spicy chili. In our house we don't because we don't like spicy food, so ours will be good but not hot. As for Chili dogs I would think that New York would be the place to find a hot dog, let alone a chili dog.

@RebeccasFarm A&W always had good ones. Years ago I used to go to Wienerschnitzel's and they had really good ones. Dairy Queen does them too and they are pretty good. But nothing beats homemade with homemade chili. I will tell you. Wendy's should do one. They already have their famous chili.

I've never eaten any. Chili is not a spice which is often used in Germany.

Chili is not a spice, but rather a dish with tomato sauce, seasonings, meat, beans and other things. It's a very hearty winter kind of a thing and absolutely delicious.

@MALUSE Oh. No. Don't get me wrong. There is a spice called chili, but it was not the chili I was referring to, but rather the dish called chili which is different, and may or may not contain chili spice depending on the recipe being used.

I love chili dogs, but it’s been a while since I’ve had one. And I’ve been itching to make a pot of chili, but I’ve been waiting for cooler weather to arrive. So far no luck on winter here in Florida.

Never tried them, in fact never heard of them until someone else mentioned them on here. To me that sounds like more than one meal at once - chilli one day, hot dogs another day and macaroni cheese another!

Chili on a baked potato is really good, too. Cut the potato open and add the chili, I don't add cheese to everything like a lot of people do, but a good cheddar is excellent on top of this. So good.

That is awesome and I had forgotten about that option, which is weird, because we often have what we call Manwich potatoes, which is just a loaded baked potato with ground beef with Manwich on top along with all the other goodies one might put on top of a loaded potato.

@porwest Chili on a baked potato is excellent comfort food on a cold winter day, too. I've never tried the Manwich option. But it does sound very good.
