Charcoal Toothpaste

My mother never gave up using charcoal powder to brush her teeth no matter how much we told her to go for toothpaste that we all were using The fact of the matter was that her teeth remained intact till her ripe old age of plus ninety. As for me I have quite a few teeth I have lost. And now companies manufacturing toothpaste have come out with charcoal toothpaste and it goes without saying it will be multiple times costlier than the humble charcoal powder. Now that these established companies are singing the praises of charcfoal would you go back to charcoal powder to brush your teeth? @DaddyEvil I will have to stick to Colgate Sensitive as with that I can eat anything cold and hot without getting those tingling sensations.

Colgate sells charcoal toothpaste and toothbrush here in India. I'm not sure how much charcoal goes in to the paste though.

I never used charcoal powder to brush my teeth but I do use Colgate Charcoal Toothpaste. When I was a kid, we used table salt to brush our teeth. We put a little in the palm of our hand, got it barely damp and rubbed our toothbrush in it and brushed away... then rinsed and repeated... I still have 24 teeth left and I'm almost 60 years old. My teeth are in good shape...

@allknowing I had 32 teeth when I was 16 but the wisdom teeth were coming in pointing forward and they were causing the rest of my teeth to push out of my mouth so the dentist surgically removed them. I've slowly lost the four very back molars over the years. (Mom's teeth were bad so they were pulled when she was 24 years old and she wore dentures until she passed away at 81. Dad still had some teeth when he passed away at 70 years old.)

I know in the commercial Colgate has bamboo charcoal toothpaste but it seems it's color is still green and not black so I thought maybe there is really no charcoal in it

If you are satisfied with what you are already using then there is no need to switch over

My mother would tell me to use charcoal as toothpaste used to make my mouth very dry. I've seen it on the shelves but won't be buying it.

Same here. We are all settled with what we feel comfortable with. My Dentist has prescribed a sensitive toothpaste and it is doing wonders for me.

@JudyEv It is years that I have not visited my Dentist. I have lost a few teeth but have not intention to do anything about it. I can eat well but biting hard stuff I avoid.
