Five years ago Harlingen Texas resident Stephanie Garza adopted a cat named Ollie who was adopted by the Garza family from an animal shelter in 2017. Shortly after the cat was adopted, Ollie did run away from the home of his owner and he never returned to his owner's home which had Stephanie and her relatives very sad with little or no hope to see their cat again. Stephanie received the good news on Wednesday when an employee with the Humane Society of Harlingen reported to Stephanie that an animal control officer left a cat at the humane society that was on the streets. After Ollie was examined by the veterinarian who found a microchip on his coat, Stephanie was able to reunite with her cat recently which made Stephanie and ger family very happy and grateful to reunite with their pet.

These stories always amaze me how the animals somehow find their way back to the owners after so many years.

It is amazing to see cats come home to their owners after a short period of time away.

@Deepizzaguy Our cat was gone for two weeks. She just came home, on her own.

@kobesbuddy I guess cats like to roam around the neighborhood and then come home on their own like Burt does.

I wonder where that darn cat spent the last 5 years! Apparently, he was eating and being fed some way. I guess we will never find out!

Most Ollie became a stray cat finding a place to eat from another person since my relatives and myself do feed stray cats in our neighborhood.

This is a good news. I hope this cat won't get lost again. After all, five years is long enough for a cat.

I am very glad they got their cat back. I had a kitty who disappeared one time, and I always wondered what happened to him. There was a cat in the neighborhood who looke very much like him, and I even called him a few times,, but aht cat had slightly different markings.

The same is happening to me that the stray cats in my neighborhood like cats that ran way are seen in the neighborhood but never come home when I call them by their name..

That’s good they found the cats owner after so long. Maybe the cat will decide it’s better to have a home than living on the street.

@RubyHawk If Ollie is anything like Bond, he will not go outside again.

Cats are strange creatures. Many of them seem to have more than one home. A friend lost her kitty--it slipped out the door when her son left one evening. They tried so hard to find that kitty, no one ever saw it, or seemed to have it, and it wasn't in any shelter or such. They finally gave up after about 6 months. Two years later, she heard a noise at the same door, and there was the kitty. Never did figure out where it had been all of that time.

That happened once to me and my relatives when my cat Bond ran away from home only to come back two days later hiding under a blanket near the backyard garage.

@Deepizzaguy Cats seem to have a way from often traveling from place to place.

The cats seem to run away from their homes and get lost walking in another neighborhood before coming home.

You are right since the microchip was the key to return Ollie to Stephanie. Otherwise Ollie would have wound up living with another owner.

I'm so glad Stephanie was reunited with Ollie; but it's sad that he was gone for 5 years. Have a good day.

I agree with you that a cat that is away from his owners after five years is time lost forever.
