A bird Utopia in suburbia

The photo was taken of some of the birdbaths in my brother-in-law’s backyard. It is an oasis of calm in a busy suburb and dozens of birds visit regularly. There is a bit of a blur slightly to the right and just above the highest birdbath. If you’re able to zoom in, you can see a very wet little bird on his way out. My BIL has placed rough branches found the baths for the birds to land on. As you can imagine, the birds bring him a lot of pleasure.

He has more baths a bit further up the yard and the bigger birds mostly go to those. He must have dozens of birds every day coming to drink or have a bath.

I hope I can make something nice for the birds but I don't have all the supplies I'd like to do that. I do have old pots on a table that I fill with water for them but it's not a pretty sight at all.

I don't think the birds will worry too much about 'pretty'. It's good of you to put out water for them. I'm sure it's appreciated.

Yes you can start with that and see what prevails after the start. Note that everything bigger once started with humble beginnings

@JudyEv It is fun to see the big sized birds doing it - water fowl, crow and even peacocks. I have videos on all the birds frolicking in our birdbath

He has a lovely garden now. It's so shaded that even in the middle of summer, it feels less hot than it really is.

I do see the wet bird flying away. How nice is this setup. I need more bird baths in my garden. I keep them up year round.

Especially in our warmer weather, these are very well used. He often has to refill the bowls through the day.

@JudyEv Perhaps bird watching can also wean away young kids as well as Teenagers from mobiles for some time. And may be some of the grown ups too !

That's so neat. I used to provide water, seeds, and green plants on the deck. Birds build nests and birds hatched. Then after several years they left and a bird hasn’t come back since.

It's a good thing your BIL made the area look like a resort where birds can unwind and groom themselves. I'm curious as to how many different kinds of birds go there to have a dip.
