Sad About Celine Now

Stiff Person Syndrome..I had never heard of it, but this is what Celine Dion has been diagnosed with. How very sad to end her most brilliant career at only 54 years young. Supposedly one in a million people get this. It causes muscle spasms debilitating and involves neurological damage involving the brain and spinal cord. It is also incurable. She had kindly posted a tearful video on her Instagram account, both in English and French for fans. She will not be able to continue her tour now as she had intended. Some have been rescheduled but who knows if she will be able to fulfill those shows in 2024. Have you ever heard of this syndrome or have you ever seen Celine in concert? I would have loved to see her. There is actually a page about the syndrome here and a foundation:

@RebeccasFarm I agree, it is very sad. My sister is a big fan of hers. A couple of years ago, she and a few family members saw Celine Dion sing live in Las Vegas. It made my sister's day.

How very sad, she seems like such a down to earth person who I do not feel has let her success dictate her ways. She seems wholesome like a good mother. I hope that her children rally around her, as well as that big family she is from, for the support that she will require.

I have never heard of the syndrome. And, honestly, I couldn’t name you five Celine Dion songs if you spotted me four and made the fifth one multiple choice. But that doesn’t matter: I don’t like to hear about anyone suffering with something that’s going to take their livelihood away from them. I hope, given her celebrity status, that it will help them do more research and, in the process, be able to help the people who have it. It’s a very rare disease from what she said, and those never get the research bucks that the “common” ailments do.

Yes because it is so not well known, you are right, it may not get the big bucks but this will draw attention to it. I wish the best for her, she is very talented.

This is the first I have ever heard of this before as well, but it does not sound like a good thing. Seems lately I am hearing about several career ending afflicitons such as with Justin Bieber and the recent vocal cord issues with Martina McBride. Sad.
