Steaming left over food

For food to taste as good as new leftovers should not be heated but the steaming process should be used.
Pour some water in a bowl, place a colander over it and keep the container with left over food in the colander. The food gets heated up just in about 15 to 20 minutes leaving the moisture intact. Even left over bread gets its freshness using this method.
I do not know if it will have the same effect as making it in a microwave. The microwave may absorb the moisture in the food and it may not taste fresh.
How do you have your left over food?

I put a small bowl with water in it in the microwave with the food. It comes out delicious.

You are the third person here who is doing that How can a bowl or glass of water kept independently in the microwave can help moisten the left over food beats me

@allknowing Because the microwave heats the water, making steam.

Well I just got this microwave..it came with the apartment.
But what I do is either put it on the stove like regular, or I will nuke it in the microwave with a small bowl of water beside it and it steams the leftovers that way.

i better humbly accept your method as most here do the same. But I have opted out of a micro wave oven and steam food the way I have mentioned in my post. Some fried stuff obviously cannot be steamed though.

@allknowing Fried stuff cannot be steamed. I donated my microwave, I never liked that oven, the food tastes weird when heated there.
