Where there are cows you will see bulls

We have a neighbour that rears cows and this bull belongs to them. Their cows stroll in front of our gate and sometimes we see this bull as well.
Passers by are wary of this bull specially if they have some red clothing on them. Belief is bulls go wild when they see red colour.
I am not sure if this is true but I have seen the bull chasing. Whether it is because of the red colour or something else remains to be seen
Have you ever been chased by a bull?

I read a scientific article some time ago that stated that bulls can't see the color red. Scientists think it is the waving of cloth that draws a bull's attention.

@DaddyEvil Let's leave it at that then and run if we see a bull if we have worn something red

I also have read the same @DaddyEvil, cows (and bulls) cannot see the color red, they are dichromatic and can only see yellow and blue. It's the waving that excites the bulls. Also cows chase, particularly if they have young calves to protect. At least one (stupid) tourist is killed here every year by a cow. There are signs everywhere not to approach the cows.

@DaddyEvil Here they do not cut the horns, cows have horns and they can also be dangerous.
They get irritated by loud people approaching, often with walking sticks, they fear for their calves and they attack.

Exactly! We had to warn hikers every year when I was a kid not to go into the fields where there were cattle, whether bulls were in that field or not. Cattle don't care if anyone is wearing red or not. They just care about any loose clothing or big hand motions when they have calves.

@LadyDuck It depends on the farmer/rancher whether the cows have horns or not here. Our cattle always did. Dad wanted them to be able to protect themselves and their calves from coyotes and wolves. Of course, the cattle would also use their horns on people if they disturbed them.

@allknowing I see so cows roam free without the danger of being slaughtered for food.

Here cows are considered to be holy - only one community believes in it but the slaughter is banned.

Tthere was a neat thing on bulls but I do know its provoked by mankind plain and simple. Women do not have to worry because men just dumb or many but they showed bulls do not attack for no reason.
The red color not sure, none of them were wearing red so maybe. I still found it neat and just how dumb people are. Why would you want to piss off such a wild creature anyway, some kind of badge of honor. I would go slap a grizzly bear if that is what made me think people would think I am all tough and honorable.
I guess some were wearing red but many saying that is not a real bull or to young. Either way dumb to provoke such a powerful animal.

Bull fights were initiated by the Spanish and it is considered a sport - a cruel sport indeed.

@allknowing Yeah as a badge of honor like killing a bear in native cultures but see that makes sense to eat and survive pissing off a bull for no reason is stupid.

Yes I have been chased by a bull when I was about 12 and I had to dive through a barbed wire fence into a patch of nettles! I didn't 'provoke' it by the way, I was simply walking along a public footpath through a field, one I regularly walked.
Apparently bulls are colour blind so they don't see red but I haven't tested it out!

No, I have never been chased by a bull. I have in the news a woman nearby was killed by a bull in the early morning a few years ago. She tried to hide behind the cars but she could not escape from that bull. They are dangerous when getting irritated.
