I Hate Having to Get a New One

I have had this PC laptop for going on four years (which I think is good for a PC laptop). I usually buy Dell but did go ahead and get an HP this last time. Dells are so expensive. I am still surprised that I had no issues whatsoever with this one up until a month or so again. Can't say that about Dell. I have been having an issue with the internal mouse for the last month or so. I think the battery is under it and I was leaving it plugged in and it has somewhat exploded and made it so that the internal mouse is wonky. My grandson was able to get the button manipulated so that I can type okay. Hard to explain but it works when it wants and is wonky the rest of the time. Time to get a new one but am trying to keep this one going for another few months. With my grandson's help, I may be able to do that. Sure will be nice to get a new one though. Are you finding that your laptop lasts about 3-4 years? Bought this one in 2019 and am just now having issues with it.

I've had this HP laptop since 2013. It's slower than I'd like but still works fine. (I do have a brand new HP laptop that I've set up but I don't really like Win11 so haven't actually started using the new one yet. This old laptop is still using Win8.1.)

I just ignore Windows 11. This one would have lasted longer if I hadn't had the power cord hooked to it all of the time. I guess that's a no-no. New ones don't mind so that is good to know.

@DaddyEvil ....... I've been doing it all along. I see that the new ones you don't have to worry about it and the charge lasts for 11 hours now.

@celticeagle Yeah, the old batteries didn't like being hooked up 24/7. It would burn them out. The laptops still worked as long as they were plugged in, though. A lot of people made that mistake.

Yes. 4 years is about it; but I have kept some of my computers longer. I've had my desktop quite a few years. Have a good weekend.

I have never had a desktop. My grandson does for his gaming.

Mine barely last me two years, because Windows and the processors don't like the demands of screen readers and simple multi-tasking. I'm on a Mac now and it's a lot better. I haven't had it a year, but everything works with everything I have.

Mine has lasted over five years. Lately I am not using it as much because I can do all the things I did with it on my phone and Kindle easier.

I think my next one will last longer. My grandson and I used this one a lot.
