Cabbage salad

One of the most bland vegetables according to me is cabbage although it has some health properties. We cook cabbage in different ways and the one way I like very much is to make a cabbage salad. The cabbage is shredded fine, marinated in salt and the liquid squeezed out. Curds are then added to which sugar and mustard paste is added. Green chilies are finely chopped and onions rings are mixed in the salad. The rawness of the cabbage just disappears and the salad is relishable. Try it. I like cabbage cooked with onions, spices and either chicken or ground beef. I make it a couple of times a month.

That way cabbage will really taste good as it will absorb what the beef and sprces have to offer.

@DaddyEvil That is how some vegetables depend on others and then get credit such as 'Do you know cabbage tastes wow!!' (lol) In my salad it is the curds and the mustard paste that does the trick

What we call coleslaw is basically a salad made mostly with cabbage. I also like it as a side dish cooked with onion and bacon.

@JudyEv It is the mayonnaise that helps the cabbage to be palatable!!

@allknowing Yes. There are a number of variations. Often carrot, plus a few spices and then mayonnaise is added.

I have seen similar salads. I like cabbage with flavorful dressing and extra vegetables. I often cook it in casserole. Your salad sounds a lot like a sauerkraut salad a family member used to make, except for the curds. Those do not get used much here.

Nothing like adding mustard paste. Do you have mayonnaise? You can also try what @misha suggested - chili powder, rock salt and sour lime juice . Should taste good

I think we would need fresh cabbage. The one from the market I think has to be balanced.

If you marinate in salt that takes care of washing.
