Of cars and parking space

My sister is planning to buy a new car but upon registration the buyer has to show parking space proof. Unfortunately she doesn’t have any parking space so she can’t push thru with the plan.
Recently an altercation between neighbors about parking went viral. Neighbor A parked his car in front of Neighbor B’s gate. Neighbor B’s mom got a medical emergency and they had to bring her to the hospital but because of the car blocking their driveway, you know what happened.
I resent people parking their cars/motorcycles/tuktuk/jeepneys on the side of the road leading to road congestion. If you don’t have any parking space, you shouldn’t own a vehicle.
What do you think?

If something is parked in front of my gate/driveway, I'm allowed, by law, to contact a tow truck and have the vehicle taken to the police station and the owner must pay for the tow truck.
If vehicles block the road here with no driver in evidence, then I'd call the police and they would have the vehicle towed.
Where I live, you almost have to own a vehicle or you would have to walk kilometers to reach anything.

@sol_cee Most people get their driver's license at 16 years old. My mom got hers when she was 60... Pretty still doesn't have one.

I agree with you. We have 2 vehicles which fit our garage but when my hubby's company gave him a new one, we had to sell the old one for a free space in the garage.

@sol_cee Well, its the same case actually and we do not want to add burden to the neighborhood that was why we decided to sell the other vehicle.

The law is strict in many countries around Europe, America, etc, that any vehicle parks unlawfully, will be towed away (and it is a nightmare try searching (or claiming) for your vehicle afterwards).
When visiting your country, I was amazed at the fact that there were soooo soooo many cars/vehicles on the roads - yet the road conditions seemed to be in desperate need to be fixed. (Many streets/roads were small too, where did the people there find room to park their cars?)

Oh so you’ve been to Philippines? Manila I guess? (If you told me about this before, I’m sorry I forgot huhu)
I know of some banks which offer zero downpayment on auto loans and a lot of people go for it then eventually they can’t keep up with the monthly amort and then the car will be seized. That’s why there are many carsssss on the road

@sol_cee Plenty of people around the world live beyond their means. I know a countryfellow person of yours, with some Portuguese blood, she used to drive only Mercedes Benz and her husband couldn't afford her spending habit. (She organized giant birthday party - like a wedding - for her just born baby. I don't think the baby had any say, but the baby's father: plenty of complaints.) - They parted not long after with lots of debts.

I think people who are neighbors should be respectful of those who need space to park their cars, I am glad I don't have a car anymore,

@sol_cee I have been more in than out and order mostly everything online but when I do venture out it is where I can go on my own two feet,

Yes, I agree with you. I had the same problem with my neighbours. They purchased a before building a garage and did the same thing with us. They parked their car in such a way that my sick husband couldn't go to the doctor as it wasn't possible for a hired car to get close to our house. I had to file a police case against them as this nuisance continued for long.

@sol_cee The problem is suppressed now. They are trying to encroach the road near my house.

We have this parking problem here all the time. Its very difficult to get parking space and people do not think about where to park their car before buying a new vehicle. In an emergncy situation at night we have problems getting a car to our apartment because of vehicles parked on the way.

Our house and every house in the neighborhood has a small driveway which prevents congestion on the road.

There are small businesses in front of us so their customers park on our driveway without telling us since "it's only a few minutes." So aside from houses with no parking but own 2 to 3 vehicles, there are also these small businesses that have limited parking for their customers and suppliers.

@sol_cee It used to be just a residential area but it's becoming more and more commercial.
