Like A Well Oiled Machine.

Won't it be nice if as we age we are able to function like a well oiled machine?... Anyway this post is not about people it is about kitchen and other appliances which last for a very long time. In my recent post titled "Back In The Day", @LadyDuck posted a picture of her Vertical Grill for chicken and roasts. She says it was purchased some 30 years ago in Monte Carlo and still works fine..She says it makes perfect rotisserie chicken like what is sold in supermarkets and elsewhere. I hope @LadyDuck will post the picture of her vertical grill here. Do you have a kitchen or any other appliance that still works after many years.?

@Kandae11 You are welcome. I forgot to mention that my vacuum cleaner is still the one I bought when we got married (51 years ago). A German brand Vorwerk Folletto. It does not look "new", but it still works.

I would have proudly talked about our washing machine which I just had to replace after 25 plus years. It looked as good as new but a tiny part needed replacement and I was told it is not available

@allknowing that is impressive to me. I get 2 years usually out of a washing machine. I think my last one lasted 5 and that was the longest I’ve ever had one. Usually after one year I need it fixed then by two years I have to get a new one.

@Kandae11 yep and the crockpot I have plugged in sitting on it is from the 80s I believe. It was brand new here when I moved in. My grandparents must have gotten it as a gift and never used it.

@shaggin Wonderful! Thanks for sharing the picture. Both items look almost new, proof that items produced years ago were built to last.

I don't have any appliances that have lasted for many many years. I've probably replaced everything throughout the years but I do have a Dutch oven that is probably over 60 years old since it was my grandmothers.

@Kandae11 I'll definitely pass it down to one of my daughters or granddaughters. I don't use it as often as I used to as I tend to use my slow-cooker more these days. But it was always good for soups, stews, etc.

@Kandae11 @LadyDuck's comment reminds me I have a set of dishes that I've had since my children were little. They're stoneware and I use them for my good dishes. I don't know how old they are.

Yes, the blender I have works very well, and it is certainly more tha 10 years old. The oven does too at 20, although we did replace the heating element once.

Omg most of the stuff we have here aren’t built to last but my brother still has this ancient looking refrigerator which he said is the same age as his first born son - 11 years old!

Most of our appliances are new as we moved to a new place and most things were new. Our toaster and electric jug would be our oldest appliances.

That's good. Some appliances don't even last a year and if there is no warranty you won't get a replacement.
