U S Coast Guard rescues a stray dog that was swimming in the Detroit River

Thanks to five members of the United States Coast Guard (USCG) who were on patrol in the Detroit area saw a stray dog that was struggling to stay afloat.
The USCG officers were checking on the ice condition along the shore when they saw the stray dog whose is female.
Thanks to Petty Officer Cole Harper who led the rescue team to save the female dog from freezing to death in the river, the rescue team used a boat to get near Grayhaven Island to rescue the dog and take her to safety.
After the dog was rescued, the USCG officers took the dog to the Belle Isle Station where the dog was warmed up before she was given to officials of the Detroit Animal Control where the dog will be placed up for adoption.
The catch is if the dog is not adopted by a loving owner soon, one of the Coast Guard officers will adopt her. A good story with a good ending.

@RubyHawk It is rare for the coast guard to save a pet's life much less be in line to adopt the dog.

The best story I have read this year. I love dogs and reading your post removed inside feelings on me. This dog is going to make its new owner the happiest person. I´ve had a few dogs and they are very sensitive to humans

My pleasure to share this story that will have a happy ending since most of the time when a dog gets rescued by the authorities, the dog winds up in an animal shelter but if the dog gets adopted is hardly ever mentioned.

It appears that the dog will find a good home soon since one of the officers with the coast guard wants to adopt the dog.
