He said he would come at 9 am.

Good morning, friends. It is 9:30 of a nice summer day. I am waiting for the gardener to come. I woke up early, took off the alarm, put on a bathrobe and started to get together some breakfast to offer to him when he came. He is 30 minutes late and here I am, waiting. How much longer will I wait? I think that if he comes after 10, it means that he does not want to work. Yesterday I put together all the garden tools I had. And this morning I first placed a clean tablecloth over the garage table. This is when I start swearing softly. In Spanish, of course I taught Coral (@thesojourner) my most beloved swear word when we were in Aruba together. I wonder why is it that we all teach each other swear words to each other when we are children. AND when we are adults Maybe Luna looked at the gardener with non friendly reyes. Who knows? Maybe he wanted to beg and wanted me to give him money yesterday (he did not get it). Maybe he is just lazy. I´ll post about him whther he comes or not. Meanwhile, as I heated aguter, I´ll go and bring a cup of coffee to my bedroom. See you later.

Good morning... In my own opinion, he's already lost the job. The breakfast could still be given, though, if he shows up. It may be in your best interest that he doesn't arrive at all. Do any of your friends have a college age son that wants a summer job? That would be a better bet, again, in my own opinion.

I have discovered that in this country everyone talks about inflation and lack of money but nobody wants to work. Ages ago, my girls washed my husband´s car for a bit of money. Now my grandchildren won´t do much if they are not offered avery well paid job. My friends have grown up sons and daughters. Only once could I get hold of one of Dixie´s daughter to take me to the hospital. I needed surgery on one of my cheeks and dreaded to go alone. Only Camila, a musician, had job problems due to the covid so that she had time to take me.

@marguicha When I was a kid, I mowed yards and raked leaves to get money, then I got my first job at 13 cleaning the school floors after school. Then rode home 7 miles on my bike. Pretty has always worked for money she wanted, even when she was very young... I'm sorry. If there is something like our Job Service there, you could call them and ask about someone to do yard work/gardening for the summer. At least people going to a Job Service type place are looking for a job and they would have a job history as well as police record of anyone they suggest to you.

@DaddyEvil Things have changed a lot in my country in the last few years. Everyone wants to start with a job of CEO but nobody wants to work. It is the result of youngsters having hardworking parents who give them too many things and not enough of their time.

I have had several people lined up to do jobs for me that didn't show at the agreed upon time. They didn't get hired. I spent my time waiting on them, they say, oh, they were busy...I have a life, too. It's so hard to find reliable people.

Exactly. But in this case I was happy because I shouldn´t have hired him in the first place.

@marguicha I understand. I am always more than thrilled if I don't have to do that.

It's annoying to wait for someone. Maybe something came up. He should informed you if he can't make it.

Thinking about it, I´m glad that he did not show up. I live alone and it is not wise to open our house to strangers.

@cherriefic I think so. I should not have hired an unknown entity with no papers or recommendations.

He did not arrive. And later on my eldest daughter called me and I told her about the gardener. She told me I should never hire someone who did not have any recommendations. So that´s that. One more lesson learned.
