He lost the job. Another lesson learned.

Today, just a moment ago, at 12:30, the gardener arrived. He said that he was sorry but that he had to take his wife to the hospital because she had a cardiac problem. I said I was sorry from the door. He asked if we could leave it for another day and I answered that I was sorry but that he had lost the job. I did not say "tough luck" but the words were in my mind. You know, it could be true. But after all I had thought, after all that you told me and after all that Tania told me, I decided that my grass is better left to become high weeds than to open my house to maybe a burglar. It is now a no-no. And that goes for other gardeners or workers who come to ring my bell to tell me that they can do several jobs. It is a pity that Luna has not learned to mow the lawn. But she does other things so I cannot expect miracles from her.

There's no way to know if he's telling the truth and I prefer not to risk you...

That´s what I thought. There were too many fishy sentences. AND I live alone. And I don´t know if Luna will help me.

It was fine if his wife had a cardiac problem so he could not arrive.

It could be true. But then, I didn´t know him. So I said I would not take him.

@sjvg1976 I had never seen him before yesterday so I´m glad that he did not show up. I shouldn´t have taken him in the first place.

I´m sure that it was for the best. All of you who replied to my first post told mr to be careful and Tania ,when she called me, forbid me to open my door to any unknown person.

Today a man came and said that he was a gardener. He did not have any tools of his trade though but I´m not interested yet in having him cut the grass yet. I...

I'm glad you told the gardener to get lost. He didn't want the job that badly. Luna makes a better choice!
