A Chinese snooker....

10 Chinese players on the World Snooker Tour have been suspended, for match fixing, some big names in there. Not enough details are leaking out but it seems to center on the 2022 German Masters, an invitational but big event on the tour. Its played in front of huge crowds and the players love going to Germany. The final was between China's two stars, Zhao, Zintong and Yang Bintao, Zhao ,somewhat surprisingly, winning 9-0! Its alleged multiple spot fixing bets were placed on every frame... like points scored and points gaps etc... and the result of each frame and so the match result. Other matches were under suspicion and the investigation about to be completed and fines and bans likely to follow, Pre - Covid quite a few events were held in China and a very big and lucrative market for sponsors etc so the feeling is the British administrators of the game are looking for a way to soften the blow on China , perhaps blaming it all on Liang Wenbo, another suspended Chinese star, who is believed to have bullied players into the fix, What the game doesn't want is the notion that organised crime is involved and has been for a long time. I have always felt the Triads were involved for many years with many dodgy matches over those years. Ding Junhui, Chinese most famous player over two decades, although not involved in this case has always struck me as someone on the tour that wasn't enjoying it, as if someone else controlled his results and so career.

I´ve watched some of these matches. It´s not a very common kind of match in my country but whenever I happen to see a tournament, I could take the time and admire how these masters snook the ball and then many other balls roll all over the table. It seems much like a concentration game; the mind is at work in there
