No doubt pretty but why just blue and white?

I see so many uploads by other users here where their sunrise and/or sunset images are always colourful. Be it sunrise or sunset I have to be just satisfied with what you see in the photo. It is no doubt a pretty view and not that we see this every day Sometimes it is just plain blue and no doubt grey when there are heavy clouds threatening to rain. I am eager to know why this phenomena. Can anyone explain?

You do not have to aim too high in the sky, you must look more at the horizon to get those pretty colors. I always take photos from our first floor balcony. This is a sunrise, taken a few days ago at 7:38 in the morning.

@allknowing Did you try to take the photo when the sky is red?

Most likely it is because you are shooting at an 'up' angle, while most sunrise/sunset photos are of the horizon aimed at the sun rising/setting. If you don't have good views of either eastern or western horizons you won't get the colorful views.

You don’t get the red and orange colors in the sky there? I think the sky in your photo looks beautiful anyway!

I cannot explain but I have managed to get many fiery sunsets and red sunrises by trying to get what I see with my eyes with my camera as well,

I see some have been able to explain why. I wouldn't have had any idea.

May be the 'real' horizon is where one sees colour

I was reading about your question and found an interesting link. From this story, looks like the beaches there are the colorful spots to admire sunrises and sunsets.

The sky looks pretty here, even if there are not the beautiful hues of yellow and oranges in it that typically are associated with a sunset or sunrise.

I’m not sure why. The most beautiful skies to me were in Florida.

Try a more level picture where you are getting land and sky in the picture. Also different times of the morning
