Something went right today.

I called the towing company today to get my truck taken to my default fix-it place.
It won't go into gear. It is stuck in Park.
The fella on the other end was a bit rude, chastising me for not knowing whether my Chevy Silverado was a 1500, 2500 or 3500, or whatever.
But "rude" doesn't bother me. I just want to "get 'er done."
When I described the problem to him, he suggested I check all of the electrical connections behind the brake, as the brake is yoked by electrical connections to the transmission somehow.
I lay in an upside-down position I've never been in before as I searched behind the brake in my truck. My flashlight actually decided to work.
I found some electrical connections there, wiggled them like crazy, and doused them in electrical contact cleaner.
Back in the drivers seat, I was able to get the truck to shift into gear, and I was then able to drive it to my fix-it place.
So I saved the $150 towing fee and leaned something about Chevy and GMC trucks that will not go into gear.
I hope they can check my work, replace that part that I read (on the internet) goes bad, and return me to service.
Did anything go right for you today?

Congrats, pony! I just asked on another discussion if you were ready to call for help with your truck yet.
I hope replacing the faulty part isn't expensive.

@TheHorse Oh, I know how that is. I've owned several Mustangs. They all have a tiny cable that will break. The cable costs $2. To replace the cable costs $200...

@DaddyEvil I like Mustangs. What years were yours? $200 is not too bad.

What a lucky thing to find out and save those bucks. I played ping pong well today.

@JamesHxstatic Did you ever call it a "scab" when your return hit the edge and "bounced" straight down? We did in the Midwest.

Always nice to save on those expensive fees. I hated auto problems. I was able to accomplish something rather easily early today and got some rest too. So that was good.

@TheHorse .........I ran my survey site, wrote up some research, got an early phone call made, did all my Bing tasks, and got to two levels up on the game that I'm playing on FB.

@celticeagle What does "ran my survey site" mean?

Rude people don't bother me. Remember that I pretend to be a psychologist when I pretend to be an adult. It turned out that a tree had recently fallen on this guy's house and that he had other sh*t going on. Like me, he is going through a "rough patch." After I got the truck running I called him back to thank him.

Good job! I hope it isn't too expensive to fix your truck. Not really. There is still water in the basement; and we've been without hot water for a week.

@LindaOHio Sigh. How are you staying fresh and clean, like a Spring rose?

Dudley went right, or is he Do-Right?
The whole time you were under the truck were you mumbling, “I didn’t go to college for this!”? Or were you singing, “I was in the Army but I never dug a ditch, I used to bust my knuckles on a monkey wrench”?

All I was thinking was, "I have never been in this position in my life before." Imagine yourself flat on your back, looking up and to the right at the bottom of your steering column, with your butt on the edge of your truck, and your feet just touching the ground outside your truck. Now imagine a can of De-Oxit in your right hand, tweaking cables with your left hand and spraying away with your right, as your back says "Are you serious?" At least it worked.

That's great you could get the truck in gear with the rude guy's directions and then get it to your fix-it guy.

Not on Friday, but Saturday something did. I went to get a hair cut and the hairdresser did my haircut right.

most of the repair bill is on the labor , not really on the parts.
as a guy, i fail when it comes to car mechanics. that area of manhood never interested me. sure i can do basic things like change a flat tire, wiper blades, add oil, replace broken fender clips. but disassemble motor, trans and such , forget it.
