He bought new trousers/pants!

My partner could never be called a fashion victim. As far as he is concerned clothes are just necessary coverings and he would be perfectly happy wearing the same old jeans and tatty T-shirt every day. If he has to go to a meeting the thing he complains about most is having to wear a shirt and jacket. But last week for some reason he suddenly appeared in a new pair of trousers/pants. The girls and I were quite taken aback – and even more surprised by the pair he had chosen. Apparently he has bought them to use when exercising (which he does every day in the ‘home gym’ he’s made himself) and he saw some special offer online and thought he would get a pair to replace the ones he usually wears which are old and stained. Of course the snag with online shopping is that you can never be quite sure of the size, so these have turned out to be a bit short. Little One said he looked like he was in pyjamas, while Big One gave a non-committal comment. I can’t work out why he decided to replace a pair of dirty, stained old trousers with a new pair that look as though they are stained already! Excuse the blurred photo, I was sneaking up on him with the camera! All rights reserved. © Text and image copyright Fleur 2023.

@fleura At first sight of the photo I thought you were going to tell us you caught him peeing in the kitchen. Happily not. My family find it odd when I buy clothes for myself and I too have no sense of style or size.

@Fleura No, please don’t. Men don’t need to be curated.

I always resolved not to be one of those interfering women who try to revamp their men by buying them clothes they consider suitable. But maybe I should?

Haha - fancy sneaking up on him. I take your point though. They do look a bit short and not even particularly new. lol

I think they look worse than the ones they are meant to replace! At least he will be restricted to wearing them at home (at least i think that's the plan!)

@JudyEv Is that the reason women often walk behind their husbands in some countries - they're embarrassed to be seen with them?

@Fleura If you have to go out with him when he's wearing them, you might need to walk several feet behind.

They look as if they are already dirty and stained! I wonder how much he paid for them?

Well, if he likes, he is the one who has to wear those trousers.

@Fleura - well, now you gave him the rights to comment on any new garments you and the kids may buy in the future.

He probably thought he was doing a really good thing. I recall a friend of mine bought a pair of jeans and she loved them. But, they were all tore up with wholes in them. She paid good money for them. Go figure.

My hubs and my son both like to wear loose fitting sweat type of pants around the house. They are comfortable, as his look to be, and in the privacy of your own home you can get away with it.

Yes they should be comfortable at least. Hopefully he will only wear them at home

No comment. I generally buy sweats that are oversized, if anything.

I don't worry about fashion, comfort and durability are the watch words. I like hiking shoes and trousers nowadays

Not just online shops but often I got victimized by bazaars both Philippines and Thailand when label say it's large but won't fit me at all. My size is medium.

You really need to try them on. That happens here too, but usually the clothes are labelled a small size when in fact they are huge (to make people feel slim I suppose!)
