For the first time in my life I OWE money to the federal government. It is like $370. Fine. Whatever. I'm getting $550 back from the state so it all washes out in the end. I typically get over $1000 back from federal so I am curious about why I owe this year. Am I curious enough to actually research it? Nah.

On the bright side, you got to use the government's money interest-free for months instead of them having yours. Because we both work, and K makes more, I never seem to have enough taken out of my check since nearly everything I earn is at our highest marginal rate. We make quarterly tax payments to avoid penalties and interest for underpayment.

I've been stalling on doing mine. I don't know why. I guess I'm afraid I'll end up owing too?

Did you make more? I don't imagine your medical costs are enough to itemize? We have quite a lot of medical expenses; but the standard deduction is still more than that.
