What Made Him Snap?

" l have killed before and l can kill again"! Chilling words coming from the mouth of a teacher caught on video verbally abusing a male student. The video which went viral showed the male teacher chasing the student down the hallway of the high school while verbally abusing him and making threats. This action did not go down well with the Minister of Education who along with her Ministry and the school's board are investigating the matter. The question on everyone's lips is what did the student do to make that teacher act in such a manner. Was he serious when he told the student he has killed before? Serious or not the police might start asking questions. Do you think strong disciplinary action should be taken against the teacher? If you were or are a teacher of high school students, did you ever reach breaking point? Pixabay image.

This teacher should be removed, someone like him should not be left with students.

@Kandae11 I agree. We live in a society where there is already too much violence. This is not the way to teach.

Teachers are expected to uphold discipline, not behave in that matter . Especially at a time when many high schools are experiencing violence among students.

I think I saw this video or read something about it somewhere a while ago. Even if the teacher did kill someone, what is he doing admitting it? In a classroom, to a kid? There are some real nutcases.

@Kandae11 Yes, maybe he misspoke to say the least. Even if he was only trying to scare him, this is not a person that should be teaching I think.

Maybe he just wanted to scare him. The incident took place at a high school in Jamaica last week.

This is just a wild guess, but I'm thinking the teacher is a combat vet with unresolved PTSD issues, and the kid triggered him by something he said or did. Regardless of why the teacher acted this way, he needs to be removed from his position and placed in intense therapy to find the root of his anger.

Very sound views. However l doubt the teacher in question was ever a combat vet , unless he could still have those issues without being one. For clarity, this incident took place in a high school in Jamaica a Caribbean island.

@Kandae11 Probably not a combat vet, then. Still, Jamaica has a lot of issues with violence and gang issues. This teacher's issues could stem from some childhood trauma related to these.

OMG! How awful and unprofessional of that teacher. No matter what the student did, the teacher went way over the top!!! One needs a lot of patience to be a teacher, and this teacher blew it. He should be fired. I was a teacher of elementary age students and came close to the breaking point a few times, but put my training into good use. Not fun having a child try to poke your eye out with a sharp pencil.

@Kandae11 He was a special education student and was very disturbed. He wound up in a special school. Let us know what happens to the teacher. No excuse is good enough for him.

What! a student tried that with you? Both of my parents were teachers but l never intended to follow that path - l do not have the patience. I am following developments closely to see what action will be taken against the teacher.

I can imagine teachers reaching breaking point. Some young people have absolutely no respect for their teachers. It's so different from our time.

Last year there was an incident where a male student actually fought a female teacher and broke her glasses.

@Kandae11 We had a female teacher knifed by a female student a few years ago. I'm sure there are other assaults that don't make the news.

I think we need to know the root cause why the teacher did this. Let us all see why this student triggered something in him.

Disciplinarian action should be taken. Teachers have to be trained in dealing with smart Alek , hard headed students. A trip to the principal's office and a call to the parents. This needs investigating. The teacher may talk rude to the student. They need to find out all the details. There's enough violence already.

I did when I was working as a faculty in Bansal classes. The students passed lewd remarks and I lost my cool. I slapped him and resigned from my job.

I would never allow any child in my care to be around someone who actually said that. If you work in a school, your behavior, and your actions, affect hundreds of lives. It's not appropriate in any place at all to say things like that or act out, but nothing we are seeing on a daily basis is what we could call normal anymore.

I think the teacher was out of his mind when he said this to a student. Strong disciplinary action must be taken against the teacher.

One of the good things about modern technology is that people cannot simply do anything they want and get away with it. I guess the video was taken by another student. Back in the day it would be the student's word against the teacher - and who would they believe?
