"I am not tuned in to incoming mobile calls"

That is what someone said when she was asked why she did not pick the call when the caller tried 5 times. She said she was not expecting any calls of an urgent nature I did not know there are people who stop to 'tune in' to mobile calls even if the mobile rings. How does she know that the incoming call is not urgent. Suffice it to say her mobile will now stop ringing as the message has spread like wild fire about her attitude. Can you explain this attitude? I usually check the caller ID before answering, if it's "unknown" I do not pick up the phone.

I don't answer ones I don't know. But I do then check the message if they leave one

I do not answer calls I don’t know who the caller is. To many spam calls. If they need me bad enough they can leave a voicemail then no will check it and possibly get back to them. I hate talking on the phone. My phone is almost always on silent so if someone is trying to reach me they can only get me if the phones right in my hands or I see the screen light up near me.

My mother often says her phone ringer was cut down low and she doesn't hear it. But she gets mad and worried if I don't pick up.

This is bad attitude. We at work have telephone allowance and I disliked one doctor because he never answers calls. I ask him why and even told him it's his obligation to answer especially that we have phone allowance. He simply wink his eyes and said nothing. Good thing he resigned, I cannot stand him.

@allknowing yes, maybe she had been traumatized by a caller? There's one lady I know who would not answer my call and it was important because I want to inform her that her check bounced. When I finally contacted her she said she doesn't want to answer calls that are not in her phonebook because of trauma. It seems there are callers who try to harass them.
