Thursday night musings: A little bit of this and that

February 2, 2023 11:12pm CST
I just hit the wrong button and deleted everything that I had written for tonight. So, I'm going to make this a lot shorter! LOL I've already accounted today for my walking exercise and my meals. I really want February to be a good kickstart on the weight loss that I want to accomplish this year. As far as the Taji 100 challenge, I have 92.2 miles left of the challenge for February. (100 miles equals nearly 161 kilometers.) I have finished with my dishes and the counters in the kitchen. Everything will be ready for me to put away in the morning, as I have the dishwasher running. I did not get this stove pulled apart and cleaned today, but I'll try and get to that either tomorrow or on the weekend. Tomorrow morning, RGD is going to come over. He's bringing his small carpet cleaner and going to help me with shampooing the stairs. He's going to bring his laundry over, as I have told him he's welcome to do. It's nothing for me to roll the loads in and get those done for him. I might as well do my laundry with his, and then I don't have to worry about it on Sunday or Monday. I have plenty of food that I can cook for us to eat. I have plans on putting the mushrooms with the lamb and gravy to serve over egg noodles. We can eat that with a green salad and the last of the cauliflower. I also have some of the spinach and potato that I can make some lunch for us. That would go nicely in a corn tortilla, as I really don't want to make naan tomorrow. Over the weekend, I need to clear my refrigerator and see what I have that needs eaten right away, and also plan on things to cook this weekend. It will be my broth making weekend, most definitely. I'm hoping to get a few more miles in, while he's here. That way, he can take Cooper with him, while I go and try to get some more serious miles in. It's nice to have someone who Cooper likes to be around, as it takes off some of the responsibility of me always worrying about my boy. Tomorrow I need to call the Seattle Cancer Care and confirm a couple of possibilities for dates for the upcoming scans. We'll see how that goes, but I'm hoping to get them done in a couple of weeks. As it's now 9:00 p.m., I'm going to call it a night. I will see you sometime tomorrow, though I'm really not spending a whole lot of time on social media at the moment. My concentration really is on myself and my health right now. It's another reason I'm doing the walking, so that I am stronger and healthier, which helps other aspects, as well, as I approach this treatment. Sleep well, when it's your turn. I shall see you in my morn.
What is this Taji 100? Why exactly are you on this mission called the Taji 100? Why do you want to push yourself so hard? These questions, and many more, have...

I hope we are going to walk today and tomorrow. I had a not too bad sleep, but I feel a bit down right now. I need to do my best to stay healthy and try to look happy and not worried, that is not easy at all.

I know that you must be under an immense amount of stress right now. I know it's not easy. Please know that I'm sending out lots of love and thoughts of healing for the both of you.

@LadyDuck it's the waiting that is the most difficult sometimes. Please know that you can email me at any time, if you simply need to share. Sometimes having that sympathetic ear is what we need. Hugs

@TheSojourner Thank you so much for your support Coral. I am sitting here waiting for a phone call from a doctor, it's already Friday afternoon and I am ready to wait until Monday now.

Love your quote! Your February is off to good, productive start . I'm trying to whack out the things on my mental checklist - some things done, or in the works - but there is so much more to do. Getting things in order once and for all is the goal for this year. Hope you had a good night's sleep and that you have a wonderful Friday (and weekend!) .

@TheSojourner Yep - seriously - I mean I want to these out the ballpark . . . whack 'em out . I would take 5/6 hours ! Tomorrow, Sat, we go downtown as my daughter is still in the art program through the school district. It's a pain to drive every weekend, but we've done that for years now . . . in a couple months she is done as she graduates this year. It's just she and I tomorrow, so maybe we'll have some girl time. Sunday would have been my dad's 83rd birthday. How about you?

@much2say I hope you can enjoy the time with your daughter. It sounds like fun. So your dad's birthday was the 5th of february. My mother's birthday was the 10th. She would have been 89, if my math is right. She was born in 1934. I really need to get some plants repotted. I know it's a little too early to do that, but they are in dire need of tlc. Rgd did my stairs and the landing between the two small flights. It's nice to have that carpet done. Then he's going to bring his larger carpet cleaner so I can do my upstairs landing and my bedrooms, but I think that will be in a couple of weeks. Oh, and the five or six hours? I wake up about every hour and a half, so I'm only guesstimating at this point! LOL

I understand the mental checklist, C~. I love the way you describe it..."...trying to whack out the things..." That made me laugh. I slept okay. Not great, but not the worst. I think I am getting about 5 or 6 hours, though it's interrupted. Any plans for your weekend?

I wish I could walk that far, but I can't. Mine has to be in shorter spurts, which is how I usually roll. I made a seafood chowder, as I had a few odds and ends of seafood in the freezer. I thought it tasted great, but it looked kind of blah colored, so I chopped up a few fresh spinach leaves and threw them in the pot. It was so good. I have enough left for lunch tomorrow--I didn't make a lot, just hungry for good soups in this cold spell we are having. Hope you sleep well, Coral. And I love the sign!

It's the one thing that I seem like I can push through. Some days it's more difficult than others. But we have to just do the best we can. Your soup sounds wonderful. What kind of seafood did you use? And those spinach leaves are a brilliant idea. You can also use mixed greens from those salad kits. They work out quite nicely.

@TheSojourner I had 3 frozen shrimp, and a chunk of snapper, and then I found 2 scallops. They all went in there. Got that out of the freezer and it was just delicious. I never waste fresh spinach. If I think it might get away from me before I eat it, I chop it and toss it in something, or I chop it and freeze it. Last summer I had some extra from my little garden, I dried it and flaked it up and I had dried spinach flakes to add to a lot of things--and my son who swears spinach is terrible has eaten it and liked it many times. He thinks it's parsley. Oh, well....this mom still has a few sneaky moves!
