Walking when it's miserable...Find a way! Added a couple more miles this afternoon

Today was day 3 of Taji 100, and I struggled just a little bit. It was raining heavily all day, cold, and I just didn't look forward to getting out there and doing anything. I know that many who participate are super gung-ho, even some having already completed all 100%. I admire them. I wish I could find someone local who wants to go walking me, just to keep us moving and motivated during these most miserable of days in the Pacific Northwest. I'm also struggling, because I'm coming up on my scans very soon to see how far this cancer has progressed in the last year and a half since my last scans. It's hard not to get anxious about that. On the plus side, I received my Taji packet yesterday, and it was a good reminder to me this morning, when I put the new shirt and wristband on that I can get through this. We don't always have control over what's going on in our lives, but we can control how we face it. I did complete 2.5 miles today. Part of it was me walking like a crazy woman around Costco, where it was dry, and the rest was done in the cold, blustery rain and wind. It's not as far as I would have liked to have gone today, but I can always make it up on a day that's not quite so miserable out. I need to remember that this is not a race. This is not a competition. This is about putting one foot in front of the other. (I remember the words of my daughter, Dawna, who told me that there is no shame in being "DFL," as there are plenty who sign up for events who never get up off the couch. WISE words.) So, ...Three days in. 10.3 miles. 89.7 miles to go! Photo is my own.

I admire you. I usually walk from the bedroom to the living room and back about 5 times and feel I´m a heroine.

Wow, some have completed it already??? You got the Taji shirt and wristband . . . Taji energy now activated . You still did well . . . yes, you found a way. I just imagined me walking with you at Costco . . . I'd probably be like Cooper to stop and sniff at all the prices . As the site says, it's a personal challenge .

I would probably be totally hopeless at something like this although, who knows, maybe with the motivation I might just get there.

Interesting. So you have about four more days? That is about 18 per day. Ugh! Glad it isn't a race.

Cold, Blistery and raining. Well I won't like to walk in those too !! Perhaps if Joe Biden sponsors your Indian visa, you can soak up some good sunshine here! Yet you did show some spirit and still managed a good walk in such conditions. I hope that you were dressed well enough and had a raincoat or umbrella. Yes, you can always make up on a better day !! Have a nice time ahead!

Dang, girlfriend, you’re on fire! (You have to be to stay warm!) Get Cooper some longer legs so he can keep up with you!

You are trying and you are doing good. That is all that matters. Try not to be hard on yourself.

You’re doing well with your exercise. I get two to three miles a day but if it’s too bad outside I go to the gym. I must admit I skip a day once in awhile. I hope your scan is good news.

It didn't rain or snow here today, but the cold was terrible. I think it got up to 13. I just can't get my feet to stay warm! Over 10 miles, wow, Coral! That's determination, good job! A friend had bypass surgery about 2 years ago. Dr. told her she had to walk, it was cold and winter, so she went to Walmart or Target every day and walked inside. Some schools used to let you walk the halls if you registered with them and went before school started in the mornings, but who knows if they even do that anymore.

I admire you for that. It was cold and raining here and all I did was ran up into the house. Good job.

I get anxious before testing time also, I hope that the time passes and that you keep yourself busy enough not to stress too terribly.

I understand very well that you are anxious waiting for the results of your scan, I know very well. Well said, keep in mind that it's not a race. Walk at your peace and stop if you feel tired.
