A project finished - a baby's jacket

My late sister-in-law was a great knitter and when she passed away, I was given a lot of yarn and a few unfinished projects that she’d been working on. One was this baby’s jacket. The knitting has been done but the seams needed to be sewn, an edging done around the neck and button sewn on. Another sister-in-law did the seams as that’s something I hate and don’t do well. However, I did the neck edging and put a button at the back. Although it was never mentioned, I think I’ll give the jacket back to the brother-in-law and maybe if/when his grand-daughter has a baby she might like the jacket which is basically her grandmother’s work.

That is a good idea to give the jacket to his grand daughter. it would be something that her grandmother made in a way.

It is quite a nice sweater, and will have a great story behind it for the parents that will one day be able to put that on their baby to keep them warm.

The pattern is very pretty. Most young mothers don't really want delicate little clothes for their babies as they have to be laundered so carefully.

That's a very cute and neat jacket! The knitting is beautiful! I just think it isn't easy to knit this piece of work. It would be very sweet for the baby to wear this lovely jacket.

I think many young mums are too busy nowadays to bother with delicate knitwear like this. But maybe it will become an heirloom.

The patterns on the baby’s jacket have stereoscopic effect ! This jacket finished by three people is an unique one and a reminder.

The above looks like a great finished product. Babies need much more warmth especially during the extreme winters. Such a jacket would be of a great help.

That is nice, it is good to keep handmade items in the family. What else will you be making with the wool that your sister-in-law left.?

Mostly I've made a great many beanies for disadvantaged kids. Some will go to Bali.
